Sleep Safe This Winter With HALO {+ Enter To Win a HALO SleepSack!}

A huge thank you to HALO for sponsoring today's post.

Winter has arrived...and with it much colder temperatures! As parents, we want to do everything we can to make sure our little ones are comfortable and warm. For us as adults, that means piling on more blankets, warmer blankets...but for babies? Not such a great idea! In fact, piling blankets on a sleeping baby is the last thing we want to do. Pillows, blankets and loose bedding for an infant can increase the risk of suffocation and SIDS.

Still despite pediatrician recommendations, a new study has shown that over half of babies are sleeping unsafely. You can read all about this study right here. HALO is a company dedicated to creating safe sleep environments for babies via safe sleepwear (SleepSacks and Swaddles) and now the Bassinest Swivel Sleeper product. HALO’s founder lost his own child to SIDS and has made it his mission to raise awareness about safe sleep for babies. HALO provides Swaddles free of charge to more than 1,300 hospitals nationwide and is constantly looking for ways to educate parents, caregivers and childbirth educators in sleep safety.

So, to help spread the word, they've asked me to share these tips for a safer sleep with all of you:

Safe Sleep Tips from HALO:

ALWAYS
Place baby to sleep on his or her back at naptime and at night time.
Use a crib that meets current safety standards with a firm mattress that fits snugly and is covered with only a tight-fitting crib sheet.
Remove all soft bedding and toys from your baby’s sleep area (this includes loose blankets, bumpers, pillows and positioners). The American Academy of Pediatrics suggests using a wearable blanket instead of loose blankets to keep your baby warm.
Offer a pacifier when putting baby to sleep. If breastfeeding, introduce pacifier after one month or after breastfeeding has been established.
Breastfeed, if possible, but when finished, put your baby back to sleep in his or her separate safe sleep area alongside your bed.
Room share, but don’t bed share. Bed sharing can put a child at risk of suffocation.

NEVER
Never put your baby to sleep on any soft surface (adult beds, sofas, chairs, water beds, quilts, sheep skins etc.)
Never dress your baby too warmly for sleep; keep room temperature 68-72 degrees Fahrenheit.
Never allow anyone to smoke around your baby or take your baby into a room or car where someone has recently smoked.

So, how CAN you keep your little one warm during these cold winter months? Dressing them in appropriate pajamas and keeping the room a comfortable temperature are great places to start! But perhaps our favorite way to keep little ones warm safely is using a HALO SleepSack! These fantastic wearable blankets give your little one the warmth of a blanket...without the risks! And quite frankly...they're adorable as well!!

  11. Look at the sweet baby he is looking very beautiful on his bed, in a winter season the newly born baby become more sensitive because of cold winter night so you must have good quality mattress for a baby bed, which gives baby a comfort and warm sleep in cold winter night.
