DIY Christmas Finger Puppets {A Christmas Craft}

One of my daughter's favorite songs in this world is the 'Finger Family' song. We all know this one, right?

Mommy finger, mommy finger
Where are you?
Here I am, here I am
How do you do?

It's an adorable song, and if you search around YouTube, you'll find there are TONS of versions out there for kids to enjoy. Name a favorite character and you can probably find the song to fit! My Finley is always going around singing one of these, or making up her own version based on whatever she has on hand.

For this holiday season, I wanted to create something super special for her, and given her love of finger families, what could be better than some Christmas themed finger puppets? We are still working on more characters to add to the collection, but for now I wanted to introduce our first two friends and share how you can make these super simple finger puppets for your little ones too.

DIY Christmas Finger Puppets

  • Felt
  • Scissors
  • Embroidery Floss & Needle
  • Small Pom Poms
  • Googly Eyes
  • Hot Glue
  1. First up, decide who you want to make. We completely made these characters on our own, no patterns, so for our first attempt, we went with a simple reindeer. This to me is probably the easiest to create. A snowman is a close second. After you've decided who you're going with, gather your supplies needed to bring him to life.
  2. Cut your felt. For the reindeer, a simple finger shape will do the trick.  You could do the same for a snowman as well, but we decided to give him a slightly rounder bottom. Be certain that you are cutting large enough for your finger (or child's finger) to go inside- keeping in mind that you will lose some room with the sewing. Use your first side as a pattern for the second one. (Or create one on paper first.) Go ahead and cut some for your accessories as well--- antlers for reindeer, scarf for snowman, etc.
  3. Start sewing. I'm a big fan of the whip stitch for these felt projects, but use whatever you are most comfortable with. If you're not great at sewing, you could probably even hot glue or fabric glue the whole project, though I personally love the sewn look. On your reindeer, be certain to add the felt antlers at the top as you sew. (I switched to a classic stitch to sew these on, then back to whip stitch.)
  4. Now it's time for the finishing touches. Add on your pom pom noses and googly eyes for the face. On your snowman, give him a scarf, or maybe a few buttons with puffy paint, if desired.
  5. Give them to your children to enjoy! Create fun stories or sing songs!

As you all know, when I'm working on craft projects, I look for two primary features. First they must be easy. While this may take a little more effort than previous crafts I've shared, it is still exceptionally easy... even for someone just learning to sew. The second is that they must be budget friendly, and this one certainly is that. You can pick up individual pieces of felt for 20-30 cents. The same goes for the thread. You can also buy in bundles for often cheaper deals if you plan to use more for future projects, and use craft store coupons to bring the price even lower. I purchased my googly eyes and pom poms both at my local Dollar Tree, so altogether this project didn't even hit $5! A simple, inexpensive project that bring such joy! Definitely a win in my book!

Give Sweet Dreams When You Buy Jammies with @Carter's #GivingTuesday!

Carter's Giving Tuesday Pajama Program

Did you know that today (November 29th) is #GivingTuesday? I have partnered with Bloggin' Mamas and Carter’s to promote Giving Tuesday, a pro-social movement that encourages manufacturers and other participants to support charitable giving on the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving. This year marks Carter’s first Pajama Program for Giving Tuesday. For every Carter’s pajama purchased online today at www.Carters.com or at one of Carter’s 650+ retail stores, Carter’s will donate one of America’s favorite jammies to children in need, up to 100,000 pairs.

With the craziness of Black Friday and Cyber Monday and the attitude of 'get, get, get', it can be really easy to forget that the holiday season truly IS all about giving, not getting. I love that we have this day as things are settling down to remember this and give back. And I love to see great brands like Carter's participating! Carter's Jammies are a favorite in my home, and I love that through this program, that love can be passed along to other children who may not be able to otherwise!

With close to 900 styles, including 1-piece, 2-piece, 4-piece, and gown options in cotton, flannel and fleece in sizes newborn to 12 years, parents and gift-givers are sure to find the perfect PJs for the little ones on their holiday gift lists.

As I said, Carter's have been a staple in my household for the last 9 years. Any mom can tell you that Carter's PJs aren't just super comfortable or cute, they are also made to last! We've had both PJs and clothing alike that have been passed through cousin after cousin and still look great! It's truly no wonder that so many moms choose Carter's not just for their kids, but to gift as well. To me, that quality makes this program that much better!

Spread The Word!

Give more sweet dreams to children in need and more jammies for every little one today! #carterssweetdreams

Help @Carters give back on #GivingTuesday Buy a pair of pj's & they will donate a pair to a child in need (up to 100K). #carterssweetdreams pic.twitter.com/0DACo2Nupr

In 2005, Jason’s Deli was the first major restaurant concept to ban artificial trans fats in the U.S. and later became the first to eliminate high-fructose corn syrup. Since then the chain also has removed dyes, artificial flavors and artificial MSG from its food. Jason’s Deli restaurants offer a variety of menu items to accommodate many dietary needs. The menu features gluten-sensitive items, vegetarian and vegan options, healthy kids’ meals, and the chain’s famous salad bar with more than 50 ingredients. In 2016, Jason’s Deli was No. 2 on QSR Magazine’s ranking of the most profitable restaurant chains in the U.S. For more information, please visit www.jasonsdeli.com.

Adoption Myths Busted: #AdoptUSKids

adoption_quote_family Children are our future. As they grow up, they become us, the adults who work in the factories, bakeries, local businesses, and the leaders of our nation. A truly great life is filled with love and family and those pivotal moments that we get to share with one another. As the holidays are approaching and we get busy thinking about our family get-togethers, cooking food and shopping, I ask that you take a moment to stop and think about the kids who have no family. It may be a somber thing to think about. Maybe it isn’t something you want to think about. But it is so very important. There are 428,000 youth in the U.S. foster care system and 112,000 are waiting to be adopted. AdoptUSKids’ maintains a national photo listing service for children waiting to be adopted. Since the project launched in 2002, more than 26,000 children who were once photo listed on adoptuskids.org have been adopted and nearly 39,000 families have registered to adopt through the website.  Nevertheless, older youth are disproportionally represented – approximately 43% percent of children and youth photo listed on adoptuskids.org are between 15 and 18 years old, but only 17% of those adopted have been in this age group.
Can you imagine? Knowing that because you are too old, you may never have the family that you always hoped for, that you always dreamed of? Older youth and teens have lower adoption rates than younger children, and they often wait longer to be adopted. But no matter their age, all kids need a supportive, loving home and the teenage years are a critical period for growth. While these kids may have the essential things that they need to grow up healthy, like food and a roof over their heads, that does not make up for the kind of love and support that a family can give them. Having a roof over your head doesn’t mean that these kids are being given a truly happy life, one which every child deserves. Some of the Misperceptions about Adoption from Foster Care:
  • Adoption is expensive.  Unlike the private adoption of an infant or adopting internationally, there are virtually no costs associated with adoption from the US child welfare system. In addition, the vast majority of youth adopted from foster care are also eligible for monthly adoption assistance up to the level of the foster care rate.
  • You have to be married. You do not have to be married to adopt in most states. Many children have been very successfully adopted by single parents. Single-parent families accounted for 29 percent of all adoptions from foster care in 2014 (AFCARS).
  • You have to own a home and each child has to have their own room. You can rent your home or live in an apartment or a mobile home so long as your living situation is a stable one.
  • You have to be of child-bearing age to adopt. Experienced parents and empty-nesters are encouraged to adopt. In most instances, you’re eligible to adopt regardless of age, income, marital status or sexual orientation.
  • You can only adopt a child who is the same race and ethnicity as you. Federal law prohibits the delay or denial of an adoptive placement based on the race or ethnicity of a child in U.S. foster care and the prospective parent or parents who are seeking to adopt them. The only exception to this law is the adoption of Native American children where special considerations apply.
  • You can’t adopt if you’re in the military. Military families stationed overseas and within the U.S. are eligible to adopt children from the U.S. foster care system.
adoption009 The truth is there are kids out there who need YOU. And whether you realize it or not, maybe you need them too. For more information about adoption, or about becoming an adoptive parent to a child from foster care, please visit www.adoptuskids.org or visit the campaign’s communities on Facebook and Twitter.

Cuddle Up Like a Mermaid with Fin Fun {A Review}

**Product received for review. All thoughts are 100% my own.

When I was a kid, one of my absolutely favorite movies was The Little Mermaid. I'm sure most girls growing up in the 90s felt the same, right?

This is a love that I am happy to say that I have passed onto my daughter. At three years old, she loves Ariel! She loves going around the house singing 'Under the sea', she loves pretending to be a mermaid! And she's not alone...little girls everywhere still go crazy for all things mermaid.

So, what better gift could your little mermaid fan find under the tree than a blanket that makes her feel like one!? That is just what the Mermaid Tail Blanket from FinFun provides:

Fin Fun’s Bikini Beach Cuddle Tails will have your child dreaming of warm days on the beach in this soft and cozy plush minky blanket. With an adorable clamshell bikini design, your little mermaid will love lounging in our Cuddle Tail! Parents love the quality construction of our Cuddle Tails, which can be felt in every snuggle. Plus, your child’s feet can fit all the way to the bottom of the fin to live out their mermaid dreams! Bonus nylon carry sack included with every purchase for convenient storage.

100% Polyester, double-sided minky fabric
Double-stitched, reinforced seams
Padded fins feature decorative stitching
Machine-washable for easy care

Kids' Size: Approx. width 22" x 53" length
Toddler Size: Approx. width 19" x 41" length

To be honest, I don't know who loves this more- myself or my daughter!? It's amazing. First and foremost, the most important part of any blanket is the comfort...and this one has it! It's so incredibly soft. I must admit, I wanted to climb into it myself. And honestly, I could have! This Cuddle Tail comes in two great sizes to best fit your little one. I decided to go with the Kids' size for my daughter--- I'm thrifty and figure the longer lasting the better! And this certainly will last her a very long while! My petite just under 5 foot self could easily fit inside. But of course the best part of this blanket is the style! It is ADORABLE! Your little one will love curling up inside and truly feeling like Ariel! And looking like her too! The only thing missing is the red wig! And because every little girl will want to take this wherever they go, it comes in a carrying case perfect for traveling!

Soft, comfortable, fun... I could not think of a better gift for any little girl this holiday season!

And what's even better!?

The Perfect Game for Cold Winter Days: 3 Little Pigs Board Game Review

**Product received for review. All thoughts are 100% my own.

Do you enjoy board games!?

As a child, I remember loving them. Of course, that was back in the days before we had excessive electronics and wireless Internet, but even still I enjoy even now. More importantly, I want to give my children those same fond memories of sitting around playing board games on cold snowy days that I look back on with joy. So, I am always on the search for fun new games to play with them. Games that both of my children- at ages 3 and 9 can enjoy equally. I must admit, that's not always easy.

Today, I'm sharing one such game I recently discovered- the 3 Little Pigs game!

Follow the three little pigs on their adventures as they build their houses and hope to avoid the huffing and puffing, big bad Wolf, just like in the well-known Fairytale. The 3 little pigs game combines skill and a Dash of luck. Kids will love the soft and squeEZable big, bad Wolf that actually huffs and Puffs the pig's houses down! for 2-3 players. Ages 4 and up. Game Duration: 15+ minutes.

How to Play:
1. Each player chooses one of the pigs to play and gets a house plastic stand of that pig’s color.

2. Players take turns rolling the die. To get started building your house, a player must rest roll a 'pig' on the game die. After a player has successfully collected their pig, they try to build their houses in order of the well-known fairytale.

3. When a player rolls a wolf on the die, he takes the soft and squeezable Big, Bad Wolf, and tries to blow down one of the other players' houses, causing that player to have to start all over again.

End of the Game:
The game ends when one player successfully builds their house of brick.

Seriously, how fun is this? Now, as much as *I* love board games, with so much competition with video games and computer games/apps, it's hard to find a game that can capture their attention the same. Many classic, roll the dice go around the board games just don't cut it! They need some interaction. They need fun characters. They need something exciting! They need something unique. That is just what this game provides. They aren't just going around the board... they are making the wolf actually blow down the houses. They are taking this story that every child knows and loves and bringing it to life in a fun new way! It is a game that with a little help, my 3 year old can enjoy, but also one that my 9 year old finds silly and fun as well. What a feat!

This is one game that is going to provide hours of entertainment and great memories to look back upon of these cold winter days! It's also a great choice for the little ones on your holiday shopping list.

Avoid the Lines & Cuddle Up with a Cozy Wrap: The Introvert's Guide to Holiday Shopping {+ Richard Leeds International Giveaway} #GiftIt

This is a sponsored post for Richard Leeds International, organized by Southern Mom Loves. All opinions are my own.

'Tis the season to be... shopping!

That's right, it's Black Friday- the busiest shopping day of the year! Perhaps you're reading this as you prepare to head out to beat the crowds...or maybe you've already come home to recover. Maybe you're even avoiding the whole thing. No matter how you're spending your day, it's clear to see- Christmas shopping season is ON.

The bargain shopper in me loves all these Black Friday/Cyber Monday/Christmas deals... seriously there is no other time of the year that you can buy just about anything at such low prices. Still, the socially anxious side of me...? Well, I'd much rather stay home! Today, I'm sharing my top 3 tips for getting the deals...without fighting the crowds.

The Introverts Guide To Holiday Shopping

  1. Shop Early. I know, I know...the best all around deals are found on Black Friday, but if you shop throughout the year, you might find even better deals. Search for clearance deals and stock up when you find them. Keep a gift closet and add to it throughout the year.
  2. Enlist a Friend. While us introverts might not enjoy the crowds, there are others who thrive on it...or at least those that can tolerate it! My mom is like me and doesn't do crowds, so instead she gives my sister a list to pick up while she's out. She's able to take advantage of those in store deals without going out herself. Win/win.
  3. Shop Online. Did you know that you can get many of the same deals you'd find in store online as well? This is my personal favorite way to shop! Stay home in your PJs, cuddle up with a cup of coffee and shop, shop, shop! Not only do you get to avoid the crowds, but its a lot easier to hide from the kids too!

Of course, no introvert's holiday season would be complete without the perfect blanket to cuddle up with. This year, I'm covered with the new Cozy Wraps from Richard Leeds International:

Wrap up at night with this cute creature. This ladies Sleep Cozy Wrap Robe features a hood with 3D elements like a face, ears and fur to add to the likeness of the animal. Made with a front closure to secure the wrap in place so you stay warm and cozy. The attached mitten allow you the use of your hand all while keeping them warm, this is perfect for changing the channel while lounging on the couch. This wrap robe is perfect for a winters nap. Available in an assortment of graphics, prints and fun creatures.

Over the last year, I've had the chance to try out a few different PJ styles from Richard Leeds International, and they have all had a few things in common. First and foremost, the comfort! These PJs have been the softest I have ever felt. So soft in fact that I often find my children petting me as I wear them. But they aren't just super soft, they are crazy cute as well with their wide variety of fun character styles. Cute and comfy- these are the words that I have come to associate with Richard Leeds!

And the Cozy Wrap was no different! It is the same crazy soft material I have come to love. And the styles? Well, this just might be the cutest ones yet! I received the super fun Dino style, but it's just one of many. Other styles available are- Shark, Panda, Unicorn, Zebra, Giraffe, Cow, Cat, Olaf, Hello Kitty, Minion, & Eeyore! No matter which style you go with, the details are fantastic. From head to hands, it's all been thought of. I love the 3D look of the hood, but my favorite has to be the mittens. I love this fun detail to really make it 100% unique...not to mention warm!

With this Cozy Wrap, I can beat the crowds and stay at home, shopping from the comfort of my couch, all wrapped up!

Even better? You can grab them for just $9 at Walmart! Head on over to get yours today!

And how about a giveaway!? 26 total winners will be sent fun Cozy Wraps in randomly chosen designs from the 12 styles available (ARV $468!)
1-(One) 1st prize: 6 Cozy Character Wrap Blankets!
3-(Three) 2nd prizes: 4 Cozy Character Wrap Blankets!
6-(Six) 3rd prizes: 3 Cozy Character Wrap Blankets!

Christmas on a Budget

It's the most wonderful time of the year... but it's also one of the most expensive! From decorations to travel to gifts... all of these expenses can add up quickly!

So, today I wanted to share just a few of my tips for surviving the holidays without breaking the bank.

Start Early.
Okay, so it might be too late to accomplish this one this year, but in the future beat the holiday rush by shopping throughout the year. Many toys actually go on clearance right after the holidays...and again towards the end of summer to clear out for new toys for the holidays!! I personally start checking for sales come January. I shop for birthdays first (my kids' birthdays are in August), and once I've finished shopping for that, I immediately move on to Christmas. By looking throughout the year, not only are you able to find great deals, but you are also spacing out your spending so your budget is taking less of a hit at one time.

Enter Giveaways.
Giveaways can be a great way to have the chance to win some amazing holiday gifts. I personally love gift card giveaways for this, as they allow me to purchase whatever we need, but have found many great toy/dvd/book giveaways that make amazing gifts as well. It's not guaranteed, of course, but if you're lucky enough to win, this can be a great way to stretch your holiday budget further!

Black Friday.
I like to try to have the bulk of my holiday shopping done BEFORE Black Friday, but let's be honest...the sales are WONDERFUL! If you're brave enough to fight the crowds, it's certainly a great way to get great gifts and a great price! Don't want to brave the stores? Some stores offer Black Friday prices online as well!

Price Match.
Find a great deal, but your store is out of stock? Price matching at a different store can be a great option! Walmart and Best Buy are both great for this, and can reduce your gas usage by allowing you to shop in one store as well. Personally, when possible, I love price matching at Best Buy...we get great prices AND earn points as reward members! Which leads us to...

Rewards Programs.
Best Buy, Sears, KMart, Toys R Us...these are just a few great stores that offer great rewards programs that allow you to earn money back for the purchases you make!

While most of these tips focus on getting the best deals in store, making your own gifts can be another great money saver- and a great way to show someone how much you care! Not crafty? That's okay! Bake cookies, buy an inexpensive mug and add a hot cocoa mix, take a photo of your little ones and frame it for the grandparents! The possibilities are endless!

Check Dollar Stores.
Now, my dollar store of choice is the Dollar Tree and admittedly their toy selection is not that great. However, things like stocking stuffers? They're ideal! They also have a really good selection of decor items as well. Stockings, ornaments, candles... these are all great items you can pick up for a fraction of the cost. This is especially great if you're like me and enjoy mixing up your decor each year.

Shop Thrift Stores.
No, I don't mean shopping for gifts at the thrift stores- although it can certainly be an option. Goodwill often gets toys that have been clearanced out and gone unsold from stores like Target, so you can actually find brand new toys! But really this tip is directed more towards decor and holiday outfits! Yard sales are also great for this, and because they are typically help during the summer when people aren't in Christmas shopping mode, you can usually get some amazing deals this way.

Watch Deal Sites.
Coupon blogs and deal sites can be an excellent resource to keep up to date with all the deals. There are many great ones out there, but my go to lately has been Dealspotr. It's a very social site with deals uploaded by users, so there seems to be a wide variety and easy to find deals... like these:

What tips do YOU have for Christmas shopping on a budget?

Journal Through Advent {A Look Inside December's Tis The Season Illustrated Faith Kit} #IllustratedFaith #DaySpring #IF_tistheseason #Biblejournaling

**I received this kit as part of the Illustrated Faith Launch Team. Post contains affiliate links. All thoughts are my own.
Advent begins in just 4 days! A time to prepare our hearts and minds for the celebration of Christ's birth. How are you planning to celebrate?

There are many great traditions for celebrating advent such as:

  • Traditional Candle Lighting
  • Counting down with the Advent Calendar
  • Scripture Reading
  • Daily Kids Crafts
  • Reading Advent Devotionals

These are all great traditions, but this year there is one more that I look forward to adding to the list... journaling through Advent! Bible journaling that is!

In a season that is all about preparing your heart for Christ's coming, is there a better way to celebrate than spending time in and reflecting on God's word? This season can be so busy that it's easy to lose sight of that in the hustle and bustle. As Christmas draws nearer, I look forward to having the chance to set a little time aside each day to do some holiday journaling.

December's Illustrated Faith Monthly Devotional Kit- Tis The Season-is perfect for just that! Take a look inside:

Prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus as Melody invites you to dive deeper into some really meaningful words during this 25-day Advent devotional.  Focusing on four special words—Hope...Love...Joy...Peace, Melody gives 25 daily prompts (along with Scripture), in hopes that you will connect with these four words, the prompts, and other details within the verse.  "May each day of this journey help build our collective excitement about the coming of Christmas day and the celebration of the Messiah!"  —Melody

Product Details:

1 devotional booklet (25 prompts with Scripture)
1 stamp pad
1 clear stamp collection with 1 sheet of cut-outs enclosed
1 roll of washi tape
1 package of 3 Scripture sharables
1 sticker
1 bow clip

Now I must admit, I have been looking forward to Christmas journaling for a few months now, so I could not wait to get my hands on this kit! And it was worth the wait! I particularly loved the amazing manger design that was carries throughout the kit. This one simple graphic so perfectly encompasses for me what the holiday is all about...

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

This is what Christmas is all about, and this is what we are reminded of when we study and journal the scriptures during advent and beyond.

Unlike previous devotionals that featured 14 short readings, this devotional is perfect for the counting down to Christmas with 25 daily bible readings. No long devotionals, just 25 simple verses- perfect for the busy season! Add in the fun colors and stunning designs, I for one cannot wait to journal my way to Christmas!

Want to do the same? You can pick up your kit here.

AND even better, from now through November 27th, you can get the kit (or anything else you may be eyeing) from Dayspring for 30% Off!!! Just use the code FRIDAY16 to apply this awesome offer! Don't miss out on this deal! (Note: Early black Friday markdowns are not eligible for this promotion.)

Happy Holidays
Welcome to the 2nd Annual Happy Holidays Giveaway Hop hosted by Karen’s Got Mail & Capturing the Moment! I have teamed up with a fantastic group of bloggers to share some awesome giveaways with our readers. Be sure to hop around to the participating blogs listed below and enter some fabulous giveaways, all of which are worth a minimum of $25!

When I first started Bible journaling, I found myself doing a lot of searching. I would spend hours upon hours browsing the sticker sections of my local craft stores trying to find just the right pieces to include in my journaling. But I soon found out that finding the right supplies in my everyday craft store was a little difficult. I would find some that I liked of course (more than I could count, if I were to be entirely honest)... but none that were just what I needed. I would find gorgeous designs that were just my style, but the phrases would be all wrong. The Christian themed stickers? Well, to be honest the ones I found at the time were a little old fashioned for my taste. I wanted to find great stickers to use in my journaling that featured fun Christian messages... but still looked fun? Was that too much to ask!?

In time I did begin to figure out just where to find these products, but when you are just starting out, that can be a little overwhelming. What I needed then was a simple starter set just to get me started. With the increasing popularity of Bible journaling, more and more of these sets are beginning to emerge!

Today, I'm sharing one of these with you:

Bible Journaling Kit

About the Product
Create a work of art on the pages of your favorite Bible. Draw, color, or journal your thoughts, dreams, and prayers. Highlight your favorite verses or the encouragements that speak to your heart with pencils, stickers, and tabs. Kit includes:
· 4 sheets of word stickers
· 4 sheets of alphabet stickers
· 24 tab stickers
· 8 colored pencil twists
· 1 journaling pen
· 1 pouch with adjustable strap to fit Bibles of all sizes
· 1 ruled page protector mat with tracing lines

When I first saw this kit I couldn't help but think it would be perfect for someone just starting out. It has your colored pencils, your journaling pen, alphabet stickers and word stickers... all of these pieces that I searched for in those beginning stages, and had to put together piece by piece and all things that I suggest for beginners to start with. This puts them all in one convenient package, with a handy carrying pouch too. Now, I'm not saying this is absolutely everything you need to Bible journal as there are certainly things I would personally add myself- stamps, paints and washi, for instance... BUT it is a good way to get started without buying a ton of supplies right from the start.

Even as an experienced journaler, I enjoyed this kit. Personally I have found one supply I cannot have too many of is letter stickers! I am not good with hand lettering so these come in very handy. It is for this reason I also enjoy stickers with phrases that go with what I'm journaling. The stickers included in this kit were perfect and provided some great inspiration! I know that all of these supplies will make a great addition to my Bible journaling and I cannot wait to use them all!

If you have a beginning Bible journaler on your holiday list, this is one gift they will LOVE!

Journal the Word with Red Letter Journaling Bibles {Review} #HolidayGiftGuide

** I received these Bibles in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts are 100% my own.

When I was growing up, every Bible in my household all seemed to be red letter editions. Every word that Jesus spoke was written in red. As a child, I never gave much thought to that, and honestly just thought that that was the standard... and perhaps at that time it was.

It wasn't until I started Bible journaling and seeing people ask the question..."Is there a journaling Bible with red letters?' that I really gave it much thought. I realized that most of my Bibles, journaling or not no longer featured those letters in red. But was that really that important? The words were the same no matter what color they were, so did it REALLY matter? Songs making note of those words seemed to indicate so.

In my writing, I'm a big fan of using differences in font to show importance to certain phrases. If it's important- a key focus- you'll find those phrases bolded and even larger sized in some cases. I do so because I am not just a writer, but a reader too. I know that sometimes when you're tired or rushed we have this tendency to skim. I want to make sure that those key points are seen and read. I want to draw attention to say, 'THIS is important'! This is just what those red letters in the Bible do. They make you stop and pay attention. They say this is key, read it fully. Pay attention. When I really took a moment to think about it, I found myself missing those Bibles from my childhood with the red letters. Which brought me back to the question... ARE there journaling Bibles with Red Letters?

I am happy to say that now there are! Today I'm sharing with you two such Bibles:

The KJV Journal the Word™ Bible, Large Print allows you to creatively express yourself every day with plenty of room for notes or verse art journaling next to your treasured verses. With unique and sophisticated covers, this single-column large print edition features thick cream-colored paper with lightly ruled lines in the extra-wide margins, perfect to reflect on God’s Word and enhance your study.

Excellent for a gift or for personal use, it can also be a cherished heirloom to pass on to future generations with your personal writings inside!

Features of this treasured Bible include:

Lined, wide margins for notes, reflections and art Thicker cream paper for enduring note-taking Large print 10-pt font eliminates eye strain when reading Words of Christ in red Lays flat in your hand or on your desk Ribbon marker
If I were to be entirely honest, King James Version is not my favorite translation, as I find it much more difficult to understand, which is important to me in my bibles. Still, I did grow up with it, and there are those verses that are forever in my head in this translation, so I love having it to read back those old verses and to compare to other translations too. Other translations might be more reader friendly, but there is certainly beauty in these classic words. And while this is my preference, there are many people- like my mom- who still love and prefer this translation. For them, this is the perfect journaling Bible. The style is as classic as the words inside- a simple black, timeless. This makes it the perfect choice for both men or women.

With its larger print, it'd definitely a more readable option for those who need it. It is not an overwhelmingly large print as some I have seen in the past, but just the right size to see the words more clearly without taking 5 words to a page! The margins provide plenty of space for notetaking or for creating beautiful art...and with the larger font, it does provide a little extra room compared to other journaling Bibles on the market.

This classic Bible is available to purchase now.

The NKJV Journal the Word™ Bible, Large Print allows you to creatively express yourself every day with plenty of room for notes or verse art journaling next to your treasured verses.

Features of this treasured Bible include: • Lined, wide margins for notes, reflections and art • Thicker cream paper for enduring note-taking • Large print 10-pt font eliminates eye strain when reading • Words of Christ in red • Lays flat in your hand or on your desk • Ribbon marker

If you prefer the New King James Version, this Bible is a great pick. In most ways, it is very similar to the KJV. It features the same larger font for easier reading, same space in the margin for room to journal or create artwork, same red letters... just a different translation.

And a completely different look! When I see these two Bibles sitting side by side, I cannot help but think they are an ideal his and her set. Size wise, these Bibles are the same, but this one features a stunning canvas-like cover with a gorgeous design. This one definitely isn't gender neutral, but it IS absolutely beautiful. Now, I know that they say never to judge a book by its cover, but if given two otherwise identical choices, I naturally am going to reach for the one that is more visually appealing. This is especially true for my journaling Bibles, as I want the beauty on the inside to show on the outside as well. For me, this Bible did just that!

This Bible is available to purchase now.

Whether you're looking for classic or decorative, male or female- these two Bibles are a perfect option for anyone on your list who enjoys taking notes in their Bible, or is interested in Bible journaling. Two great options to best fit your needs and tastes! I love them both, and the Bible collectors on your holiday list are sure to love them too!
