DIY Matcha Green Tea Face Scrub

Have you heard of Matcha Powder?

If you're up on green living/eating chances are you've stumbled upon it once or twice... but what is it? Matcha is finely ground powder of specially grown and processed green tea leaves. It is supposed to be the highest quality green tea available with many great health benefits. I was recently given the chance to try some out for myself and I must be entirely honest... my non-tea drinking self just couldn't get into drinking it. Still, I'm not one to let things go to waste so I started researching. I discovered that Matcha not only great qualities for your health, but also for your skin. Take a look:

  • Relieves Redness. Has many inflammatory properties that can reduce redness.
  • Anti-Aging Properties. Matcha is said to stimulate elastin production, adding volume to the skin. It can also potentially protect against age spots, sun damage and wrinkles.
  • Shrinks pores. The tannins in the matcha can help shrink pores for better looking skin.
  • It's gentle. No matter your skin type, it is gentle enough for them all.
With all this in mind, I decided to have some fun and add Matcha into my beauty routine with a new type of scrub!

DIY Matcha Sugar Scrub

  • Matcha Tea Powder
  • Sugar
  • Coconut Oil
  • Green Tea Leaves (optional)
  1. In a small bowl, add about 1/4 cup coconut oil and around a tablespoon or so of the matcha. It doesn't have to be exact, I usually just eyeball it. Mix well.
  2. If you'd like to add the loose leaf tea to your mix, you can add that here. Not too much, about what you'd find in a single serving tea bag.
  3. Now start adding the sugar, a little add a time, mixing between each small addition until you reach the desire consistency.
  4. Store in an airtight container between uses.
This scrub is super simple to make, makes your face feel amazing and smells pretty fantastic too. You could probably add a favorite essential oil too if you'd like, but I liked to keep it simple and just let the tea do it's thing myself. This might just be my favorite scrub yet!

Have you used Matcha tea? How have you used it? Any benefits that you saw? I'd love to hear all about it!

Learning To Love Your Imperfect Christmas {A Book Review}

**Book received for consideration. Post contains affiliate links. All thoughts are 100% my own.

Let's be honest, this is something each and every one of us feels at least on occasion. It seems the grass is always greener, and there's always going to be someone that has something or that can do something that we do not. I suppose that's only human nature.

As the holidays draw near, that sense of wanting what someone else has only seems to grow stronger. We see the festivities, the fancy trees, the crafts, the baking, the gifts...they flood our newsfeeds and have us feeling like our Christmases just seem to fall short. When we set those expectations of, we tend to focus on those shortcomings and of course then it truly DOES fall short. We don't all have those Pinterest worthy holidays we long for instead...

  • Money is too tight and we cannot do all we want to do.
  • Family feuds stand in the way, making holidays less than peaceful.
  • Our baking skills our lackluster.
  • Our tree doesn't turn out nearly as gorgeous as the dreams we envisioned.
  • We miss out on the hot toy of the season that our child has been asking for.
  • Work schedules cut festivities short.
  • Weather keeps us from visiting family.
  • Our elf on the shelf stays in one spot for 5 days.
  • The baby cries every time you try to take Santa pictures.
  • Health keeps you from celebrating to the fullest.
The list could go on and on and on. There is always something that could and usually does keep us from having the picture perfect Christmas. And yes, for the perfectionist like myself that can be tough. Still, if we spend all of our time and energy focusing on the bad, we miss out on all of the great things that the holidays will bring.

The new book by Alexandra Kuykendall, Loving My Actual Christmas is a great reminder and encouragement to do just that.

The Christmas season is a particularly difficult time for women to slow down and relish what's right in front of them. An annual marker for many, it is a holiday that can often remind us how life is not going as we'd planned. Our family relationships remain strained, our finances stretched, and our schedules stuffed with too much to do in too little time.

Following the formula of her successful Loving My Actual Life, Alexandra Kuykendall shares with readers her own personal experiment to be completely present in her life as it is during the holiday season. Addressing the themes of Advent and Christmas, she reflects on hope, love, joy, peace, and relishing the season, with practical pullouts on common Christmas stressors, such as finances, schedules, and extended family. Kuykendall's signature candor helps women go easy on themselves, remember what truly matters, and find joy in their imperfect Christmases.

If you're like me and find yourself stressing over the holiday you want... this is a great read. Its' very relate-able and truly a great reminder on what truly matters during the holiday season. You can pick up your own copy of Loving My Actual Christmas: An Experiment in Relishing the Season at your favorite Christian book retailers.

Coloring Christmas Devotions {A Book Review}

**Book received for consideration. Post contains affiliate links. All thoughts are 100% my own.

Coloring and Christmas.

Two of my absolute favorites... so it would only make sense that Christmas coloring books are at the very top of my list, right? Which is why today I am excited to share with a fabulous new coloring book that you are going to want to check out this Christmas season:

This unique coloring book also includes devotions perfect for the season. With inspirational devotions on one side and a festive Christmas scene to color on the opposite page, Coloring Christmas Devotions will be a welcome part of your holiday celebrations. Take a few quiet moments to yourself to reflect on the reason behind the festivities as you read through the Scripture verses and devotions and color the pen-and-ink illustrations.

This coloring book is unique with a trim size that is easy to fit into a purse or bag, an embellished cover, perforated pages, and a low price point.

A beautiful gift or a fun treat for yourself, Coloring Christmas Devotions will help you focus your heart on the true meaning of Christmas.

I love coloring devotionals. On their own, coloring books can be very relaxing--- a great way to forget about the days stresses. Devotionals can be the same way. Adding them together? The perfect combination. I love that I can get into the TRUE Christmas spirit with this great book. The devotionals are short and lead into a beautifully illustrated page to color.

Once you've worked through the devotional, I love that you can use these pages for your holiday decor. Trust me, they are so beautiful you are going to want to have them displayed year after year.

Become a Word Nerd {Tips to Become a Bible Bookworm + A Look at the New Illustrated Faith Devotional Kit} #If_WordNerd #IllustratedFaith

**Post contains affiliate links. All thoughts are 100% my own.

I've always been a bookworm. From the time I was a very little girl, if I wasn't writing my own stories I was curled up with a book reading them. I was perhaps the only kid in the second grade who got excited about the new collection of the classics I got for Christmas that year. The other kids were going crazy for their Barbies and Hot Wheels, but for me it was all about the books.

It would stand to reason that reading the Bible would be something that would come very naturally to me as well, but if I were to be entirely honest, that hasn't always been the case. When I looked at the Bible I didn't see the next great adventure to be taken on... rather I saw it as a history textbook. And as much as I loved reading--- history, eh. It took a lot of time, and even some work to get to a point that I fell in love with the Bible.

But how do you get to that point?
How do you become a Bible bookworm?

  • DON'T see it as a history book. When you think of the Bible as a textbook, it becomes more of a burden...a have to, not a want to. Yes, there is history. Yes, it can be great to study if that's your thing... but it is so much more than that. It is a way to connect with God and strengthen our relationships with him.
  • DON'T Start at the Beginning. When I first started reading the Bible I found myself thinking, 'I'll start at the beginning and just read it straight on through'. That made sense right? And you know, Genesis in and of itself isn't a bad place- full of excitement and familiar stories. But hit about Leviticus and Numbers... and it starts to wear on you fast. Ease yourself in. Read through Psalms or Proverbs... or start in The New Testament with some of the letters. Find what works for you, when it works for you. You don't have to read in order, jump around. Choose a book and focus on that book, no matter where it happens to fall.
  • DO Find a Great Translation. Some people prefer the good ol' NKJV and if that's what you prefer- awesome. I prefer something a little more readable such as NIV or NLT... even The Message (though I would not recommend this as you ONLY option). I like having several different translations so that I can read the little differences throughout.
  • DO Give Yourself Grace. Miss a day... even a week? Forgive yourself. Don't give up, just start again. I'm a perfectionist and I so often find myself thinking if I cannot do it RIGHT, then why do it at all? I don't want this to be true of my time reading the Bible.
  • DON'T Play the Comparison Game. Sometimes I find myself falling guilty of this. There are days I don't have time... I don't have the discipline that I would like or the time to set aside a block just for reading before I start my day. I would love that, but it's not me. Do what works for you... there is no perfect way to read the Bible.
  • DON'T Feel Like You Have To Know It All. I'll be honest- in a Bible trivia challenge against my 10 year old... he'd win. Even against my husband who reads it a whole lot less than me--- yep, I'd lose. My son has a great memory. My husband a knack for history and knowledge of people and places. Me? I have a horrible memory and can't recall what I had for breakfast today. I used to worry about this and found myself trying to just memorize all those facts and trivia--- to just be Bible smart. But in doing so I wasn't enjoying it, I was losing the messages in all those facts. That kind of just defeats the purpose, doesn't it? Reading the Bible doesn't necessarily mean that you have to know every last detail, more importantly it is about spending that time with God and discovering his plan for you.
  • DO Study With A Friend. Start or join a Bible study or Sunday school class where you can read the Bible with others. So often when we read the Bible- or anything really- we have our own interpretations- often based on our own experiences. When someone else reads it, they see something different. I love being able to share ideas and hear what others have picked up from these verses that I might now have seen.
  • DO Journal It. Next month marks two years since I started Bible journaling and I have never been more in love with my Bible than I am now. I am connecting with it on a different level than I ever had before. I have talked with others who have told me that they had never even read the Bible before they started journaling... and now they read it daily. There's something pretty amazing about that. Journaling in your Bible- whether it's artwork or scripture notes- allows you to interact with the Word, not just read it.

Whether you are already a Bible bookworm or just strive to be one, this month's new Illustrated Faith Devotional Kit- Word Nerd- is a great way to dig deeper into God's word. Take a look:

Confession: When I opened this kit, I might have squealed just a little bit. As if the bookish theme didn't appeal to my inner bookworm already, the glasses and the coffee certainly did me in. All my favorite things rolled into one beautiful kit and I absolutely loved it. It reminded me once again of the importance of spending time reading the Bible in strengthening our relationships with Christ.

Not only is this new kit gorgeous, but it comes with a great deal too! With every purchase of Word Nerd, you can choose 1 of 4 great Illustrated Faith freebies. PLUS you can still use the code IFSHIPSFREE for free shipping! Hurry over and grab this offer while it lasts!

Australian Trip to Bond with Your Family

It is normal to have a busy schedule at work. You want to provide a good life for your family thus you work hard and you work long hours especially during weekdays. However, you should treat weekends differently since it should be spent for the family and with your family.

If you wish to make up for your absences, then you can start to plan for an Australian trip which is absolutely the best family bonding moment that will be enjoyed by all.

Here are some factors to consider in your planning on your next travel adventure:

Decide on dates that work for everyone – first of all, you should plan your trip carefully. Everyone in the family is surely busy – parents with work and children with school. Therefore, it is advisable to select the dates thoughtfully. Gather everyone and look at your schedule. Allot 3-5 days where you are all free and can go out for a trip to Australia. Then, be sure to avoid other plans for those dates once agreed upon.

Book your flights ahead of time – it is best that you plan this trip ahead of time so you can check out flights early too. Buying plane tickets early may help you score some discounts. You should also watch out for those sale seats or other promos of airlines. Travelling as a family can be quite expensive so you should be practical and take advantage of all discounts that you can get.

Hire a car from the airport – travelling with kids and a lot of luggage make it challenging to commute especially from the airport. It is recommendable to rent a car from the airport. You should consider DriveNow car hire in Hobart airport - if you're travelling to Hobart - for their great service and packages. You can also look for other car services online to choose the perfect car for your family. A car rental will definitely save you from a lot of trouble and hassle.

Organise your itinerary for the entire trip – Australia is a place that has many charms. There are different sceneries to check out so it is best that you prepare your itinerary for your trip. This will ensure that you will be able to visit all the places that you want to visit in a very organised and strategic manner. For example, on your first day you can go to the beach and do water activities while on the second day you can check out the Australian outback and see kangaroos, koala and other animals in the wild and on the third day, you can check out museums, the Sydney Opera house and others. Be sure that you will list down everything.

Take lots of pictures – lastly, do not forget to take lots of pictures and videos to remember your trip and to have something to look back on.

Australia is such a beautiful place with many activities that you can enjoy together as a family. It will be a memorable and special bonding moment for sure.

No matter how busy you are with work or business, you should still spend quality time with your family especially your children. Try to squeeze in your calendar an out of town or out of the country trip at least once or twice a year to strengthen the bond of your family and of course to relax and unwind too.

Finding Time in the Bible for Busy Moms

**Bible received for consideration. All thoughts are 100% my own.

Hey you! Yes you- the mom who feels like she's juggling everything and is about to lose it all. I feel you. I am you.

From the moment we wake up our days our filled to the brink. Diaper changes, meal prep, cleaning messes, homework help, after school activities... it's enough to make your head spin. Sometimes you find yourself escaping for a potty break just for a moment of solitude to breathe!

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love motherhood, but there's no denying it's an exhausting season of life with little ones running around. And it can wear a person down. We need a moment to gather our thoughts, to relax, to pray. We need some time with God reading his word.

There's a great power in reading the Bible. It leaves us feeling at peace, joyful... refreshed! It's something that in these days of motherhood we truly need for the sake of our sanity! But, with out already packed days... where do we find the time? We know we need to and yes, we even want to... but HOW!?

Today I'm sharing a few tips:

  • Wake Up Early. If you can, wake up 15-20 minutes early to start your day off with some Bible reading. Grab some coffee and get started on the right foot.
  • Or Stay Up Late. If you're like me and more of a night owl, stay up a little later after the kids have gone to bed.
  • Listen to the Word. Neither of those options? Grab an audio Bible and listen to it instead. You can do this in the car, as you workout or even as you clean.
  • Read While You Work. Grab a cookbook stand and read as you do the dishes or cook... just be careful not to burn the food!
  • Memorize Some Scripture. If you cannot read the Bible at all times of need, memorize some particular verses that mean a lot to you. When things are getting overwhelming throughout the day recall those verses to get you through.
  • Read WITH Your Kids. What a great way to lead by example! Do a family Bible study every night before bed, or set time aside during the day to read with your kids. If they are old enough, they can read on their own or you can read to younger children too.
Yes, as moms it can be hard to find that time to spend in God's word... but it's such an important part of our life that we truly need to make it more of a priority. I hope these easy ideas gave you some inspiration to get started!

Need the right Bible for your busy schedule? Enter the Busy Mom's Bible! The Busy Mom's Bible is designed with moms like us- those with only a minute! Inside we find:

  • 52 One Minute Thought Starters. These are ideal for those moments when you can't really dive in but need that little extra bit of a breather!

  • Ten Minute Study. These studies dig even deeper but still keep that busy mom's schedule in mind.
  • Topics That Matter. These devotionals feature topics that are relevant to moms like us--- raising kids, marriage, emotions and finding who you are in Christ.
  • Carry Along Size. As moms, we know that we have to take the time wherever you find it. The size makes it ideal for tossing into the diaper bag or purse and keeping it with us wherever we go. Waiting in the pick up line? Grab that Bible and start reading!

Save Money on Groceries with These Simple Tips {+ Food Storage from Ozeri}

** Product received for consideration. All thoughts are 100% my own.
How much do you spend on food in the average month?

If we're be honest, I'm sure most of us at times wish we could bring that number down! It's right up there with rent/mortgage, utilities, etc as far as importance, but it's at least one of those things we can take some control over. When finances are tight and budgets change, grocery spending is one place that I would always recommend taking a look at.

But how can we stretch our tight food budgets? Today I'm sharing a few tips:

  • Buy On Sale/Use Coupons. Let's start with the most obvious. Buy what's on sale and mix with coupons to get the best prices possible in the stores. Check your sales fliers and plan accordingly.
  • Meal Plan & Stick To Your List. I must admit, sometimes I find myself slacking on this one lately, but if you have a plan, you can shop for just what you need... and you won't have any nights where you find yourself ordering in because you don't have anything planned!
  • Buy Meats in Larger Quantities. Often when you buy the larger family packs of meat, you end up paying less per pound than you do with smaller packs. When possible, I try to do this, then repackage and freeze separately for individual meals.
  • Make in Bulk and Freeze. Now, I don't like doing this for everything, but for things like soups, making a larger quantity and freezing smaller batches works well. I can grab them and toss them over the stove or in the crockpot throughout the year.
  • Eat Leftovers. This is one that some prefer not to do, but it can truly save a TON of money... make a night or two throughout the week that are dedicated to using up those leftovers. OR use dinner leftovers for lunches instead.
  • Invest in GOOD Food Storage. Along the lines of leftovers, you'll want to make sure that you have good food storage containers. These aren't just great for leftovers, but for produce etc as well. I often feel like I am constantly throwing out food that seems to go bad quickly in my fridge. That's money thrown in the trash. But with good food storage, they will stay fresh longer so you can get the most use out of them and waste less!

When it comes to great food storage, I love Ozeri INSTAVAC Nesting Food Storage Container Set. Take a look:

  • Instant vacuum freshness without pumps, motors or confusing parts. Simply press down on the lid and air is forced out via the one-way valve.
  • Patented valve removes excess air to reduce naturally occurring bacteria; It also releases pressure to prevent spills and splatters in microwaves.
  • Wave pattern on bottom of each container keeps cut fruit and vegetables elevated from water and juices.
  • Handy date dial allows you to record when food was first stored and monitor days kept in the refrigerator.
  • BPA-free, stain-resistant, shatter-proof and as transparent as glass
  • Freezer, microwave and dishwasher safe
  • Satisfaction guaranteed.

Sounds pretty great, right? I've heard great things about vacuum sealing for freshness, but didn't want to have to invest in any fancy equipment... nor did I have a place to put any of that! These give you that same vacuum freshness at a great deal, and the nesting storage takes up less room in my kitchen. The various sizes give me plenty of options for anything I might need it for- fruits, veggies, leftovers... you came it, I'm covered! With my forgetful mind, the date dial is genius too, allowing me to know what to eat up faster and when things need tossed.

At about $25 for the set, this is a good quality set at a great value.... especially when you consider how much you will save on your grocery bill by keeping your food fresh longer! You can order yours here.

What tips do you have for saving money on your grocery bill? How could food storage from Ozeri help you?

Picturing Heaven will offer you comfort and relaxation, while filling your heart with restful assurance that God prepares a special place for those who love Him.

Throughout the last several years I have reviewed many devotionals. I've also reviewed several coloring book devotionals. They all have their various themes, but all tend to focus on our time HERE on earth, and our relationship with God in the here and now. They might mention Heaven, but I've never had either that focused purely on the topic. Until this one... and it does it beautifully.

Many of us use coloring books as an escape... a way to relax and separate ourselves from the stresses of the world... and let's be honest there are a LOT of stresses out there. But this coloring book provided that escape in such a beautiful way. It reminds us that this world is all just temporary and that one day, we will go to this magnificent place that God has prepared for us. There will be no stresses, no pain... just beauty.

The illustrations are as beautiful as the devotions featuring a variety of stunning styles to choose from. I loved the addition of the gold throughout the illustrations... I'm a big gold fan, and I've not personally found a great way to incorporate that into my coloring pages, but with this it's already done for me. And it fits beautifully with the theme too!

If you're looking for an escape, this is a great coloring book to check out. It is available to purchase now at your favorite Christian book retailers.

**Books received for consideration. All thoughts are 100% my own.

Aww, fall... I just love fall, don't you!? The leaves are beginning to change, pumpkin everything is everywhere and we slowly but surely find the cooler weather creeping in!

With that cooler weather we sometimes find that our time outside starts to go down. And with littles inside, we need MORE to keep them from being bored inside. For us, I find we do a LOT of reading through Fall and Winter, so we are always on the hunt for books that make learning fun! Today, I'm excited to share with you 4 new books that will do just that.

Join your favorite dinosaur friends on an adventure in the seas in Gareth Lucas Noisy Books: Dinos on Deck! Hoist the sails, press the sound buttons, and laugh along as a Triceratops, a Stegosaurus, a T. rex and more search for treasure. With humorous art by Gareth Lucas and charming rhyming text, this sound book will be a perfect addition to story time. What will these dinosaur friends find when they open the treasure chest?

Dig, dig, dig…and dig some more with your favorite animal friends! In Noisy Books: Dig, Dig Digger, children will be amused by the hilarious antics of the animals as they build an adventure playground. Young readers will delight in Gareth Lucas's artwork and in finding the sound button on every spread. Each turn of the page will bring humor and fun with hippos, bears, camels, and more on their day at the construction site.

Old MacDonald had a farm, E-I-E-I-O! This brand-new playset featuring the classic children’s singalong song "Old MacDonald Had a Farm" will be the perfect addition to your child’s library. With a chunky board book, a wooden tractor, and a playmat, little ones can read and play along as they go through the farm and meet cows, ducks, horses, and more! Join Old MacDonald and his farmyard friends for a reading adventure in Woodworks Nursery Rhymes: Old MacDonald.

The wheels on the bus go round and round! Climb aboard the yellow bus with this sweet playset featuring a chunky board book, a wooden school bus, and a playmat for added fun. Young readers will enjoy reading and playing along with their favorite nursery rhyme as they drive around the town and sing their way through Woodworks Nursery Rhymes: Wheels on the Bus.

Sound fun, right!? And they definitely were! First up, the sound books. I remember as a child loving sound books... they really just brought every book to life in a new, fun way. But these are not your traditional sound books--- rather than all the sound buttons on the side, they are within the pages for little ones to find and push as you read! My dino loving girl was of course more drawn to Dinos on Deck--- I mean- Dinosaur PIRATES!? What kid isn't going to fall in love with that! Still, both books were cute and fun little stories that we go back to again and again.

Next up were the playset books. Talk about bringing the books to life! My daughter loved these! Let's be honest, these books are based on a couple of every child's favorite songs anyway so going in, the books alone would have been a big hit. But she loved that she could act them out as we read and sang too! I think Wheels on the Bus was her absolute favorite, but honestly, she loved them both. Have a child that loves wooden trains? These would be a great addition to their towns too... just the right size!

For kids, making reading fun is perhaps one of the best ways to make them fall in love with reading and these books truly do that! Not only do they make the stories come to life, but they feature themes and songs that kids tend to love! These are truly great books to add to your home library this fall! Your kids will thank you!

And one very lucky reader is going to win a set for themselves. Enter via the Rafflecopter form below:

Go All In This Fall with Matthew West's New Album {+ A Giveaway Hop}

The event runs from September 21-October 3. Good luck! Note: Savings in Seconds and participating bloggers are not responsible for sponsors who fail to fulfill their prize obligations.

So, I step to the edge and I take a deep breathWe're all dying to live but we're all scared to deathAnd this is the part where my head tells my heartYou should turn back around but there's no turning back now

I'm going all inHeadfirst into the deep endI hear You callingAnd this time the fear won't winI'm going, I'm going all in

Wow! Talk about some powerful words. These lyrics from the title song 'All In' from Matthew West's new album are the very reason that I love contemporary Christian music so very much. They have the power to reach us, to speak to our hearts, where we are and where we want to be. I find myself often wanting to do more, but my anxiety holds me back. It's something I've been working on, but I loved this reminder to truly go all in and give it ALL to God. I think we all sometimes need that reminder. A reminder to get off the sidelines and live our our faith--- all in with God. We are sometimes are our biggest boundaries in becoming the people that God created us to be. That is just why Matthew West wrote this new song and album.

I needed this. This song, this album... all of it. I needed the encouragement, the inspiration... I needed these words. I'm certain I'm not the only one. Music has the power to lift us up, to inspire and yes, even to challenge us to rise up and do something. This album is certainly proof of that. Every song is just as beautiful and powerful as the next.

I've been a Matthew West fan for some time so I had big hopes for this album and it by far lived up to and exceeded those hopes. I cannot get enough. But the inspiration doesn't stop with the music Matthew has also launched a 6-week All in Challenge on his social media starting 9/18, and each week Matthew will be challenging his fans to go all in in a different part of their lives.

What does it look like when a heart that knows Jesus takes a step and holds nothing back? How can we go All In in the places that mean the most? I for one am excited to see where the next 6 weeks and beyond take me. I am excited to work through my fears and try to be the person God wants me. Head on over to his Facebook to follow along and join in.

Want to experience the album for yourself? Head on over here to check it out.
