The Book
I’ve built my life on distance.
Do the job. Keep it simple. Walk away.
It’s safer that way—
until she becomes the one person I can’t stay away from.
I’ve built my life on independence.
Protect the animals. Let the work be enough.
Just me and God—
until he becomes the one person I don’t want to lose.
The sanctuary was supposed to be safe.
It isn’t.
Someone is hiding something…
and the closer we get to the truth,
the more dangerous it becomes.
But even in the wild, light finds a way in.
Wild Light is a heartfelt Christian romantic suspense novel set against the breathtaking backdrop of a South African wildlife sanctuary. Blending a slow-burn love story with rising danger, it explores themes of trust, identity, and what it means to step into the life God is calling you toward.
Written from a distinctly Christian worldview, this story weaves together clean romance, gentle humor, and faith-filled hope. It’s about learning to let go of control, choosing courage over fear, and discovering that sometimes the wildest places are where God does His most beautiful work.
Content Expectations:
Clean romance (just kisses). No bad language. No explicit scenes. No sexual assault or graphic violence. No terminal illness. The story includes real emotions and mild danger, always through a lens of hope and healing. Because the story is set in the world of wildlife conservation and anti-poaching, there are scenes involving harm to animals.
The Author
Ivy Emerson writes faith-centered romance marked by emotional depth, quiet hope, and meaningful love. Her stories focus on characters who grow, trust God, and discover that love is often found in perseverance rather than perfection.
Off the page, Ivy is a wife and mother of two who treasures the simple joys of family life, a good book, and an unhurried cup of coffee. She writes with the hope that her stories will leave readers encouraged and gently reminded of God's grace.
Book Review
There is just something about the way that Ivy Emerson writes suspense that feels so much different than the high paced, high action suspense novels I typically find. The suspense is very much still there, but it feels more subtle with danger very much present but lurking in the background. I truly don't know how to explain it better, but I do know that I love it! Of course, protective MMC are a weakness of mine, so a bodyguard romance always does that well. I loved the sweet chemistry between Ben and Cordelia throughout... theirs is a slow burn and just perfect for the two of them. But truly the best part of this story? How beautifully the messages of faith are woven in. It was unapologetically Christian in a way that felt very natural to the characters and their story and I absolutely loved it. I enjoyed this one just as much as the first and find myself very much looking forward to what will come next!Wild Light is a Christian romance with kisses only and no language. It is the second book in the Light Rising series, but could be enjoyed just fine as a standalone as well.
