The Book
Love is out of the question until they take a shot.
Aimee
Aimee
It's stupid. Making a wish for love on my thirtieth birthday sounds ridiculous. As a divorced, single mom of a hockey-obsessed eleven-year-old, that ship has sailed.
Unless I can magically find an unmarried man at my local hockey rink, but that's more ridiculous than my birthday wish.
At least, I think it is until I fall flat on my face in front of a handsome mystery man at the ice rink. Looking into those dark brown eyes, maybe---just maybe---wishes do come true.
Taggart
Life as a professional hockey player is busy, especially in the middle of relocating to Utah after the sale of my team. Between finding a house, helping with youth hockey clinics, and my regular off-season training, I don't have time for a relationship.
But when a beautiful woman falls on the ice in front of me, I find myself looking for every reason to clear my schedule. Something about Aimee is so alluring, and it feels like fate when we wind up having a mutual friend.
It's been so long since I've been romantically involved with anyone, but maybe this time, I'll take my shot.
The Author
Ashley grew up near the mountains, where she dreamed of being a fantasy author from a very young age. Imagine how surprised she was when she fell in love with and began writing romantic comedies. When she's not writing or wrangling her kids, she loves going on long-ish runs, avoiding the laundry, and drinking Dr. Pepper. She now lives in a small mountain town in Utah with her husband and five children.Book Review
If Ashley Funk writes it, I'm going to read it... no matter what it is. And when it's a favorite trope like hockey romance? Well, that's even better! And she absolutely knocked this one out of the park... of the hockey equivalent as the case may be. Right from the start, I just adored Tag and Aimee together. She's a single mom who hasn't dated since her divorce and he's a pro hockey player whose team has just relocated. Their meet cute might was a little embarrassing, but so cute... and their connection was apparent right from the start. They had such a sweet and easy chemistry between them that I couldn't help but love. There was a bit of awkwardness between them as they figured things out and it only made them that much more endearing. There's something really sweet about a professional athlete who still needs a little dating advice from his teammates, right? Theirs was a very quick read, easily read in just a sitting or two and I found myself loving every moment.Shooting For Love is a closed-door romance with kisses only and no language.
