About the Book

Book Title: From Comfort Zone to Trust Zone

Author Name: Cecil Taylor

Genre: Christian Living

Release Date: January 6, 2024

The innate human longing for comfort is undeniable. However, Jesus challenges us to step beyond the boundaries of our comfort zones and venture into the profound realm of faith, aptly described as trust zones by Cecil Taylor. These are the spaces where we dare to take risks in service of Christ's Kingdom. In this enlightening exploration of the Bible, Cecil Taylor delves into 12 narratives of Jesus encouraging individuals to forsake their comfort zones in favor of trust zones. Through insightful interpretation, he unveils the valuable lessons these stories impart for contemporary followers of Jesus.

Book Excerpt

“Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good—except God alone. You know the commandments: ‘You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, you shall not defraud, honor your father and mother.’”

“Teacher,” he declared, “all these I have kept since I was a boy.”

Jesus looked at him and loved him. “One thing you lack,” he said. “Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”

At this the man’s face fell. He went away sad, because he had great wealth.

This man is described elsewhere as a rich young man or a rich young ruler. In either case, he probably had inherited a great sum of money; still, he was clearly ethical. He had not stolen or lied his way forward. He had not defrauded anyone. He had been obedient to an ethical, religious life but somehow realized that it wasn’t enough.

I selected Mark’s story, as it’s the only version that indicates how Jesus loved him. Christ saw into the young ruler’s heart and loved most of what he saw.
