Deadly Intentions {A Book Review}

**I received a complimentary copy from the publisher for consideration. All thoughts are 100% my own.

Research scientist Caitlyn Lindsey is convinced that someone is taking out her team one by one. First, a friend and research partner was killed in a home invasion. Three months ago, her boss died in a suspicious car accident. Four days ago, another partner supposedly committed suicide. And now Caitlyn herself has miraculously survived a hit-and-run. Afraid for her life with nowhere to turn, she reaches out to one of the victim's husbands, Detective Josh Solomon.

Though initially skeptical about Caitlyn's theory, Josh soon realizes that the attack that took his wife's life was anything but random. Now the two of them must discover the truth about who is after Caitlyn's team--and what their end game is--before it's too late.

In this nail-biting thriller, award-winning author Lisa Harris will have you believing that there's no such thing as random.

From the very first page, Lisa Harris draws us into the suspense with Deadly Intentions and has us guessing right through the end who we can trust! Three seemingly random deaths... a break in gone wrong, a heart attack and a suicide. Seemingly unconnected, except that they all had one thing in common--- a common project through there employer MedTech. Could there be something darker at play? This question keeps us guessing. Though we don't find out exactly WHY these people are being targeted and what they had uncovered until later in the book, we do figure out pretty early on that someone is definitely trying to keep it under wraps. This leads to a story filled with twists and turns and suspense that has you turning the pages trying to put it all together. One thing that is clear throughout--- there is no telling who is in on it!

This uncertainty has our main characters leaning not just on each other, but the only other person they know they can trust in the midst of the turmoil--- God. It was not an overwhelming aspect of the story, but rather felt more natural to how any believer might react given the same circumstances. As a fan of Christian suspense, I appreciate these aspects in the story. I enjoyed seeing the romance blossom between our romantic leads, though admit I was uncertain with it at first just based on Josh only having recently lost his wife. I feel like the romance wasn't as rushed or even as prominent as other romances in this romantic suspense genre so I did appreciate that. I would be curious to hear more about their story in the future too.

I had read other books from Lisa Harris in the past, and really love her style. This story did not disappoint. If you already love her novels, you'll want to add this one to your collection. If you love a good, clean romantic suspense that will keep you guessing, this is definitely worth a read!
