The Secret of the Hidden Scrolls: Journey To Jericho {A Book Review + Giveaway}

Our favorite adventurers are back in the fourth installment of this fantastic kids' series, 'The Secret of the Hidden Scrolls: Journey to Jericho':

In this fourth installment of The Secret of the Hidden Scrolls, Peter and Mary find themselves in the middle of the battle of Jericho. 

The Secret of the Hidden Scrolls series follows siblings Peter and Mary and their dog, Hank, as they discover ancient scrolls that transport them back to key moments in biblical history. In this fourth adventure, the time-traveling trio journeys to an ancient desert and finds the Israelites preparing to enter the Promised Land. With limited time to solve the secret of the scroll, Peter and Mary join Israelite spies on a reconnaissance mission to Jericho; sneak Rahab to safety; and ultimately face the scheming man in black as the walls of the city begin to crumble. Fans of the series will love this whirlwind adventure that brings the Bible to life. Ages 6-9 years.

 What makes a good adventure story? Well, there are many aspects to be sure... but I have found that for my son, many of his favorite adventures all have to do with time travel. I can't say that I blame him to be honest, there is something very intriguing about the subject. Taking a trip back to all of these moments of historical important!? It truly is the ultimate adventure. As a mom, I love that this fun series takes that love of adventure and time travel and uses it to teach kids about the events of Biblical times.

This series is geared toward children ages 6-9 years old. That can be an interesting age when it comes to Bible stories. At this age, many kids start to feel like they are getting too old for the plain ol' Bible storybooks they loved as toddler... but they still aren't quite ready to dive into a real Bible yet and truly be able to understand it. Secrets of the Hidden Scrolls can bridge that gap a bit. Sure, they are fictional and not TRULY Bible stories, but it gives kids a new perspective to view those times in. For some, it might help to keep their interest in learning about Biblical topics going. For others, it might provide a bit of historical insight as they start to read more into the Bible on their own. And still for others, it's just pure entertainment... but at the very least, it is entertainment that we as parents can feel good about our kids reading- no language, no innuendos, etc... just good Christian values in a fun adventure tale.
