936 Pennies.
Sounds like a lot of pennies, doesn't it? But the reality is we all know just how quickly those 936 pennies--- $9.36 cents--- can be spent, don't we?
936 Weeks. This is the number of weeks we have from their birth until our child turns eighteen. And just like those pennies, as moms we know just how quickly those weeks can go by. One minute we're changing diapers and spending the nights up with a nursing infant and the next we're sending them off to school... where does the time ago?
When it comes to money, most of us try to budget it well. We know that the money will eventually run out if we spend it recklessly and so we create a budget. This much for bills, this much for food, this much for gas, this much for fun. Oh sure, sometimes it gets away from us, but for the most part,we try to use our money well.
But what about our time?
These days it's 'go, go, go'. We never have the time to breathe, let alone spending quality time together with the whole family at once. We find ourselves thinking, 'this is only a moment, we have plenty of time'... before we know it another 52 weeks have gone? And how have we spent it? What do we have to show for it? Are we spending it wisely...or blowing our budgets? How can we be better?
If this is something you struggle with, the new book '936 Pennies' is just what you need:
When Eryn Lynum was given a jar of 936 pennies (one penny for each week of her son's life from birth to age 18), it was a tangible reminder of how fast kids grow up. We only have so much time to teach them, to make memories, and to love them while they are at home. Through very personal stories and hard-earned wisdom, Eryn shows us that while we can't control time, we can slow it down by living each day intentionally.
As you remove one penny from the jar every week, you'll discover how to prioritize what really matters—things like making your home richer in laughter, teaching family values in everyday moments, and showing God's love and grace with every opportunity. Your kids will see how simple choices, like putting the cell phone down and going on a family hike, will make all the difference. Together, you will stretch time to its fullest potential.
This is a book that all moms must read. We all hear 'enjoy these days, they'll be gone before you know it'... and it doesn't take us long to realize just how true that is... but in the midst of it, well, we can get so caught up that we forget to spend those days how we hope to. Having this visual reminder? For many of us, that can be just what we need. Taking the time each week to think back on how we spent that week gives us a chance to reflect--- a chance to adjust, before all the pennies are gone. Who couldn't use that, right? The accountability even if only to yourself can be a great reminder. This book offers beautiful insight and ideas to help us spend the weeks we are given wisely.
