The Book
When a sunshiny woman with scars takes a PA job with a grumpy, high-powered lawyer, she thinks she’s finally building an independent life—until danger, family interference, and a very inconvenient attraction turn her world upside down.
A former swimmer with Olympic aspirations, Evie’s dreams were burned to the ground in the fire that took her grandma. Left with scars she hides and an uncertain future, she takes a personal assistant job at a prestigious Seattle law firm, working for a grumpy, workaholic lawyer with strict boundaries.
Boundary #1: They are not friends.
Boundary #2: Work comes first.
Boundary #3: He will not notice how she looks, smells, or tastes.
Boundary #4: Wait. Tastes?
Jules Forester is determined to become a partner at his law firm, and his goal is finally within reach. He’s come a long way from the small-town, parentless boy who felt like he had no control over his life. Just a few more months of full-commitment, no-distractions focus, and he’ll have the partnership locked down.
Distraction #1: Evie swims in his pool and stays at his house while he’s out of town. Nothing he can’t ignore.
Distraction #2: A dangerous pro bono case involving Evie’s grandma.
Distraction #3: A spontaneous deal to keep Evie safe—if she moves into his house, he’ll represent her grandma.
Distraction #4: A firebomb?
With their lives—and his job—on the line, Jules, Evie, and Grandma flee to the one place he hoped to never live again. But danger follows them everywhere they go, and it won’t be long before their carefully hidden secrets expose them all.
If you love fake engagement, forced proximity, a protective hero, grumpy/sunshine chemistry, and a slow-burn romance with real emotional stakes, this closed-door romance is your next obsession.

Each time a new book in this series is released, I can't help but think it cannot possibly get any better... and yet, somehow, it does just that! A fake engagement, grumpy/sunshine, a sense of danger and an overprotective MMC!? Yes, please! This story truly had so much to love. Evie and Jules captured my attention with their easy dynamic and chemistry right from the start... and with so many unexpected twists and turns, it held me right through to the end. This one definitely had a lot of surprises that I didn't see coming... I can't give too much away but it really was a good blend of danger, humor and moments that will make you swoon. I truly couldn't help but adore these two. They'd both had some struggles in their lives- his with his complicated family dynamics and her with her scars and the aftermath of that tragedy- and it only made me root for them to get their happily ever after all the more. If you love a protective hero and a story that will keep you guessing, this is one you'll want to add to your TBR.Evie and the Big Bad Bodyguard is a closed-door romance with kisses only and minimal minor language. It is part of the Enchanted Forrester series, and while I do think you'll have a better understanding of Jules's family dynamic and history if you've read the previous books, I think it could still be enjoyed as a standalone as well.
