The Book
It’s been a year since Asher’s wife, Eve, died in a tragic car accident the night of their wedding. Despite his best efforts, Asher is still overwhelmed with grief. He’s trying to be a decent man for his students, but how can he possibly give his all when the one whom his soul loves has vanished?
Desperate to feel connected to his late bride, Asher takes his therapist’s advice and honors Eve’s memory by decorating for the holidays—something she would’ve loved. It works, for a brief moment, as the gin, sugar cookies, and twinkle lights swirl together, comforting him in his time of need. But then he stumbles across Eve’s wedding present, and everything changes.
It’s an Advent calendar, with a daily note from beyond the grave.
His Eve is speaking to him, and Asher must respond, whether he wants to or not.
EVE’S STILL DEAD is a psychologically twisted A Christmas Carol retelling, perfect for fans of Love, Mom; The Silent Patient; and Catriona Ward.

To be honest, I'm not typically much of a horror/psychological thriller reader, but I discovered Amy Tacket on Instagram a year or so ago and found that I actually did enjoy her writing style... though I definitely have to be in the right state of mind to read them. This one very quickly drew me in. First of all, I love the idea of an advent style story, allowing you to read a chapter a day leading up to Christmas... I think especially with this type of story, it builds that anticipation up even more. That said, I personally didn't have the patience to wait and had to read it all at once. It was still very much enjoyable that way! I also love the nods to A Christmas Carol. This retelling definitely had its own unique twists, but I loved seeing hints of the classic holiday ghost story I already love. The thing I enjoy most about Amy's books though is that it's always unexpected in some way, and this one was no different... I definitely did not see this ending coming! I won't give anything away but definitely be prepared for anything.Eve's Still Dead is a psychological thriller with no explicit content or language, though there is some implied intimacy off page. There are several topics addressed that could be triggering for some readers, so if that's something you need, I do suggest checking out the content warnings on the author's website. (Keep in mind, some of these warnings may be slight spoilers.)
