More from Donna
Oh, the wonderful power of prayer! Recent years have taught us how much we need God to intervene to protect and save, guide and help us raise our children and grandchildren to be loving, courageous children of God. In this vein, God inspired me to write these precious books of prayer to pray over the special child/children in your life. With the opportunity to personalize the book by inscribing the baby’s name, birthdate, height, and weight, along with a photo; this book will become a keepsake for every parent who receives it. Give the gift of prayer to the new parents in your life and watch their child grow in grace and favor with God as they are prayed over each day.
Author Interview
Can you tell us a little bit about what readers can expect from your books?
Sure. The Baby’s Blessing Books for Boys and Girls is an all-encompassing prayer to pray over the special child in your life, to lift them to God as readers pray protection, wisdom, healing, and so much more over their child. There are blank lines in the front to include the baby’s name, height, weight, and birthdate, as well as a space for a photo. These books make meaningful gifts for new parents and other caregivers!
What is the greatest advice you have ever been given about writing?
The greatest advice? Probably to trust in God’s call on my life to write even when it doesn’t seem like things are going my way. Writing is hard work, and publishing takes a long time. But if we are truly called by God to share His message with the world, He will help us to persevere and trust that He will bring good from our work in His time. (Psalm 138:8 – “The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me…”)
What book made you fall in love with reading?
I remember as a child reading Mr. Pine’s Purple House over and over again. Something about the man’s house being painted purple and being so easy to find in the midst of all the white houses, spoke to my heart about my individuality and God’s call to shine my light, even if it looks different from others. That book spoke powerfully to my child-heart about authenticity and following God’s voice instead of the world’s.
What was the inspiration behind it?
The inspiration behind the Baby’s Blessings Books for Boys and Girls came to me as I was praying over my grandson. I babysat a lot when he was young as my daughter worked day and night. I loved every moment and often found myself praying ‘breath prayers’ – short, simple prayers – as we played in the yard or in the house. I believe God was preparing me to write this prayer for children to help guide new parents, grandparents, and other caregivers to pray with power over the children in their lives.
What was the most rewarding part of bringing this book to life?
The most rewarding part of writing the Baby’s Blessings Books is hearing the comments of children’s pastors and individuals as they read the prayer and are touched to pray it over their children and share it with others. When a book I write touches others so much they express gratitude to me, I know I’ve heard the Father correctly and done what He asked me to do.
