Nothing to See Here by Dana LeCheminant: Book Review

**ARC received for consideration. All opinions are my own.

The Book

He’s the last man she’d ever trust.
He’s also the only one who can help her.

Astrid Storme has spent her career as a royal intelligence operative in Candora trusting her instincts, and they’ve never failed her. Until now.

With a growing anti-royalist movement slipping through the cracks of every investigation, Astrid is one misstep away from losing everything she’s worked for. Desperate to get ahead of a threat no one else seems able to trace, she makes a risky choice: recruit Prince Hendrik Alverra, better known as Hex—the reckless royal with a talent for getting people to talk and a reputation for not taking anything seriously.

The biggest problem is the fact that Hex loathes Astrid.

Though Hex ignores protocol and breaks every rule she gives him, he somehow still manages to get them closer to answers than Astrid has been in months, leaving her career as a spy on shaky ground. But the deeper they go, the more Astrid begins to see cracks in the persona he presents to the world. Beneath the arrogance and charm is a man who notices too much, hesitates when he shouldn’t, and looks at her like he’s trying to understand her instead of manipulate her.

With powerful enemies closing in and a dangerous invitation pulling them into the heart of the conspiracy, Astrid can’t afford to be wrong—not about the mission, and not about him.

Because if Hex isn’t the man she thought he was, then everything she’s built her investigation on is wrong. And Candora will pay the price.

The Author

Dana LeCheminant writes sweet romantic comedies, heartwarming contemporary love stories, and swoony historical romances—with a twist. Known for putting a fresh spin on beloved tropes, she lets her characters lead the way, believing they always know their stories best. Her books are full of banter, emotion, and connection—all of the swoon, none of the spice. When she’s not dreaming up her next twisty trope or emotional arc, she’s hiking the remote Utah backcountry or cruising down rivers in search of new inspiration. Dana has been telling stories since before she could spell and has no plans to stop anytime soon.

Book Review

What a story! From the moment we first meet Astrid and Hex, I was invested in their story. I mean, royalty and spies... what more could you really ask for? With fantastic banter and so many secrets to uncover, this one had so much to love and kept me turning the pages to see how everything was going to play out. And just when you think you know what's going to happen next, here comes the next twist to keep you guessing... and I was absolutely here for it all! I can't say too much without giving things away, but this one truly was so fun... the perfect blend of romance and intrigue featuring a take on one of my very favorite tropes... though I can't tell you which one it is! Yes, I'm being vague, but trust me, this is definitely one you will want to experience for yourself to discover all the secrets firsthand. Dana's books never disappoint and this one was no exception. I cannot wait to see what is going to happen in the series next.

Nothing To See Here is a closed-door romance with kisses only and no language. While we are first introduced to some of these characters in the Starstruck series, this is the first book in a new series and can be enjoyed even if you haven't read the previous series.
