Head Over Wheels by B.R. Goodwin: Book Review

**ARC received for consideration. All opinions are my own.

The Book

Love and Marriage… and a Suite Heart Carriage

I’ve got this theory: Cutting hair is much like forging an unbreakable bond, sealed on small-town gossip and sacred vows of monogamy. That devotion is one of the reasons I’ve felt anchored to the small town of Honey Hill, and my loyal clients, in favor of someplace new. It’s also why I refuse to cut my long-time best friend’s hair. Because, for me, cutting Owen’s hair is a forever thing. And I know, better than most, forever has an end date.

Owen Jones also happens to be my number one reason for staying in this town where I’ve never quite felt at home. Knowing it’s only a matter of time before Owen’s baseball career starts to take off and he leaves me behind, I take a chance on my ticket out of Honey Hill: a reality gameshow with a life-changing grand prize.

But if I want to win, I’ll have to recite life-changing vows far more significant thana haircut.

-----------------------

There are a few certainties in my life: I’ve always wanted to play in the Major Leagues, I’ve never doubted my family’s love or support in that pursuit, and I know, regardless of where life takes me, I want Brooke McBride by my side. The only problem is, despite the connection we’ve always had, Brooke’s afraid to admit she wants a future with me, too.

Just when I think I’m about to reach one of my goals, a potentially career-ending injury wipes me out for the season. Though I could lose my shot at the Majors, this massive curveball might be the opportunity I’ve been waiting for: a chance to make a major commitment to the woman I’ve quietly loved for our entire friendship.

If playing a game is how I’ll finally convince my best friend to give us a chance at a future together, I’m ready to step up to the mound for the most important pitch of my life.

The Author

B.R. Goodwin is a Georgia native, married to her college sweetheart, and the mother of three wild animal children she adores.

When she isn’t writing Christian Fiction, she’s reading, hiking, bee-keeping, soccer mom-ing, or planning her family’s next big adventure while drinking copious amounts of tea & coffee. Above all else, the heartbeat of everything she does in life, friendship, and writing is with an eye to sharing the Good News of salvation through Jesus Christ with everyone she meets.

Book Review

Another trip to Honey Hills... and a romance so beautifully written that it already has me looking forward to the next! Simply put, Brooke and Owen were the cutest. Best friends entering a marriage of convenience to compete in a reality TV show forcing them to share a tiny camper, unable to leave? (Talk about forced proximity!) I'm not a reality TV fan, but...I found myself wanting to watch this one just the same! This was truly such a fun idea for a story... and the execution was even better. More importantly though, I loved these two together... their long friendship gave us all the history and pining and the chemistry between them was so good. She may have entered the marriage for a game show, but it was the perfect push for them to cross that line from friendship to something more. As always, B.R. Goodwin delivers a story that will make you swoon and laugh out loud... this is exactly what a friends to more should be! If you love a little marriage convenience between friends, this is one not to be missed.

Head Over Wheels is a closed-door romance with kisses only on page and no language. There is some very vague implied intimacy off page between a married couple, but it is so vague/non-detailed that I hesitate to even call it that. It is the second book in the Happy in Honey Hill series, but I do believe this could be enjoyed as a standalone as well.
