Marriage is a Shore Thing by Laura Langa: Book Review

**ARC received for consideration. All opinions are my own.

The Book

She’s tough. He’s golden. One dare later, they’re hitched.

I’ve sworn off love, so accidentally marrying a stranger after a friendly game of Truth or Dare? Worst. Case. Scenario. Never mind that Evander Young is a brilliant ER doctor with a dimpled smile that makes my heart race.

News of our nuptials spreads through my small beach town like wildfire—only everyone thinks it’s real after a long-distance romance. With my mom ecstatic that her grumpy, boxing-instructor daughter has finally found love, it looks like we’re stuck playing house—at least for now.

The thing is, happily-ever-afters aren’t for people who avoid feelings like they’re a knockout punch. But Van’s golden-retriever energy keeps chipping at my well-forged armor, and the sizzling chemistry between us? Definitely not fake.

When a family heirloom goes missing, Van and I team up for a midnight heist—sneaking through shadows, racing against time, and dodging a few close calls. Turns out, the real risk isn’t the heist—it’s falling for my accidental husband.

Enjoy the playful banter and sizzling tension of this accidental marriage, black cat/golden retriever, small beach town, closed-door/kisses-only romance by grabbing your copy TODAY!

Book Review

When we first met Geneva in the previous book, her character was one that absolutely intrigued me. She was described as having a 'live, laugh, toaster bath' exterior, and I just knew that there was a story there and that it was going to be a good one! And it absolutely did not disappoint! Right from chapter one this story hooked me... and it didn't let up right through to the final page! Geneva definitely comes across as a little surly in the beginning, but as we get to know her, we see that there's a lot more behind the surface... and Van was the perfect golden retriever MMC to soften those edges a bit. His enthusiasm was contagious and when he calls her 'darlin'?... I'm a puddle! But he also had his share of vulnerable moments that made him really endearing. There was really such a good balance between them that I absolutely loved... and it wasn't just balance in the characters, but the story as a whole. Theirs was a story that had me laughing out loud with their banter and an unexpected heist (oh my goodness, so fun) ... but one that also had me tearing up during those more tender and open moments as well. And the only thing that could make the story even better? A little beach magic, of course! We've gotten to learn a little more about the magic of Wilks Beach with each book, and the more we see, the more I love it! I absolutely loved the previous book in the series and thought it would be hard to beat, and yet somehow Laura did it! I cannot wait to see what it going to happen next!

Marriage is a Shore Thing is a closed-door romance with kisses only and no language. It is part of the Wilks Beach series. While those who have read the previous books will enjoy seeing some familiar characters, I do think this could be enjoyed as a standalone as well.
