The Book
My nemesis is about to ruin my life.
Is Patrick O’Connell gorgeous? Unfortunately, yes. Jet-black hair, smoldering eyes, and those muscles I accidentally saw when my friends dragged me to spy on the fireman calendar photo shoot.
Is Patrick O’Connell also the bane of my existence? Absolutely. He wrecked my dream years ago, and I’ll never forget what he—and his family—took from me.
Now the O’Connells want to dump a big-box store right next to my cozy bookshop. Over my dead body.
Thankfully, I have a distraction: the anonymous podcast host of Burning Through the Pages. His voice is pure comfort—like a warm blanket by a crackling fire. He’s clever, kind, funny. With each late-night message, I want more. So much more that I’m almost tempted to ask him to meet face-to-face.
The future of my bookshop is uncertain—but the fate of my heart feels even more fragile.
Book and Ladder is a sweet, closed-door, hidden-identity, enemies-to-lovers romcom—a slow burn with kisses hot enough to need a fire extinguisher. A standalone in The Firemen of Waterford, TN series.
The Author
Savannah Scott loves writing happily-ever-after romcoms with scenes where kisses make you melt. Her characters feel like long lost friends, and the settings make you want to take off on a road trip to visit.
You will smile. You will laugh. Yes. You will need coffee because you stayed up past your bedtime reading. Sorry, not sorry.
If you can’t find Savannah, she’s probably hiding with a book, dancing Zumba, or going a little crazy being the fun carpool mom who cranks the tunes and always goes through the drive-thru for copious amounts of sugar and fat on the way home from school.
(Can you keep a secret? I thought so. Savannah also writes as Patty H Scott, which is the Clark Kent to her Superman. If you like clean romance, check out Patty's books.)

Book Review
Oh my goodness... this story was so fun! a firefighter + bookstore owner with secret identity, enemies to love and You've Got Mail and David/Goliath vibes!? Yes, please...it was a combination I didn't know I needed. But right from the moment we meet these two, I was drawn into Patrick and Daisy's story. I wanted to know exactly what had happened between them in the past to make him the enemy... and I loved that we were given just little bits to keep me wondering and reading on. Despite their history, the chemistry between them is undeniable too. Theirs was definitely a slow burn... but well worth the wait! If you love firemen or smalltown romance with great banter, swoon worthy moments and the perfect blend of heart and humor, this is definitely one to check out. I can't wait to see what will happen next in the series!Book and Ladder is a closed-door romance with kisses only and no language. It is the second book in the Firemen of Waterford, TN and while those who have read the previous book will see some familiar characters, I do think this could be enjoyed just fine as a standalone.
