Spoke Too Soon by Dulcie Dameron: Book Review

**ARC received for consideration. All opinions are my own.

The Book

It’s every girl’s dream to move in with the hot guy who ghosted her...NOT.

I’m about to be homeless at almost twenty-five.

Cue the pathetic wah, wah, wah sound effect.

And to make matters worse, I’m nowhere near having enough money to fund the clothing line startup I’ve dreamt about for years.

But bemoaning my current situation won’t move the needle and it certainly won’t find me a place to live. I have to make some tough decisions.

Which is why I accept the lifeline Charles—Dane—Kent tosses me during a particularly weak moment.

If only living with him didn’t resurrect the old attraction I’ve wished a hundred times would die a quick and painless death.

Yet, here we are. Sharing a bathroom. Invading each other’s space. Tiptoeing around the fact that neither of us wants this…

I mean, neither of us wants this. Right?

Sometimes the way Dane looks at me makes me wonder.

But envisioning what it would be like to let him into my life, close enough to where he could hurt me, can only end badly.

So, reluctant roomies are all we can ever be. Even if my heart begs me to reconsider.

***Spoke Too Soon is a sweet, one-sided rivalry romcom filled with tension, unnecessary angst, and all the swoony, sizzling kisses you've come to expect from a Dulcie Dameron novel. ***

Book Review

Spoke Too Soon is the second book in the Kissing a Kent Brother series. While those who have read the previous book will enjoy seeing some familiar characters, I do think this one could be enjoyed just fine as a standalone as well. (But the first book is great and one I'd highly recommend anyway!)

Once again, Dulcie Dameron has absolutely delivered with a story that is tender and sweet balanced perfectly with laugh out loud moments and hints of faith... and of course, sizzling kisses too. I loved the first book in this series and had high expectations for this one... and it absolutely lived up to those expectations and then some. Dane and Daria got off to a rough (second) start, but despite that big misunderstanding, there is definitely a lot of fire between them--- be it the disdain she has for him early on or the undeniable chemistry between them as they spend more time together as roommates... and I was here for all of it. Their story definitely has some real struggles (to include mentions of foster care, OCD and stalking), but I loved watching their growth through it all. And oh, those kisses! Honestly, Dulcie writes some of my absolute favorite kisses--- just the perfect amount of sizzle and swoon. This was a fantastic read, and I cannot wait to see what's going to happen next in the series.

Spoke Too Soon is a closed-door romance with kisses only and no language. There is some light Christian content as well-- mentions of prayer and Christian ideas on living together before marriage, etc.
