I'm Not His Style by Kasey Stockton: Book Review

*Book received for consideration. All thoughts are my own.

Real men only ever let Beth Parker down. From her absentee father to her current dating pool, Beth has learned over and over again that the only men she can count on are on TV. Specifically, celebrity heartthrob Rhett Myers. Why spend tears and heartache on real relationships when Rhett’s characters, who will never let her down, are available at the push of a button? Which is why she’s over the moon to network her way into a job doing hair and makeup for a well-known actress—who also happens to work alongside Rhett. Who knows—maybe Beth will get a chance to find out if he’s the same perfect gentleman offscreen that he is on it.

When Beth dreams of meeting Rhett, pajamas and zero makeup do not play a starring role in her fantasy. Unfortunately, that’s exactly the first impression she makes when she runs into him at the worst possible time. Luckily, their anti-meet-cute is just the beginning of their acquaintance. When Beth is tasked with styling Rhett himself, she quickly learns that there is an incredible man beneath the charming veneer. A friendship develops between them, but even as they toe the line of romance, Beth struggles to imagine a future together. In Hollywood, the boundary between fact and fiction is often blurred. How can she determine what is acting and what is real?

Kasey Stockton is a staunch lover of all things romantic. She doesn't discriminate between genres and enjoys a wide variety of happily ever afters. She publishes both contemporary and historical novels, and all of her titles fall under clean romance. She loves reading, chocolate, and period dramas, but nothing tops her very own prince charming, their three children, and their sweet goldendoodle.

I'm Not His Style is the sequel to I'm Not Charlotte Lucas. While characters from that book make an appearance, this can absolutely be enjoyed as a standalone as well.

I absolutely adored this book! Beth has been obsessed with actor Rhett Myers since she was young and is thrilled at the chance to be a stylist for his newest costar... but when his own stylist is no longer available, she takes him on as well. Talk about a dream come true. Their first meeting, however? Not a dream at all. I love awkward first meetings and this one definitely made me smile. Still, I loved their chemistry and banter right from the very start. Despite her super fandom, Beth always seems to see Rhett as a person and not a product as some others around him do. It was fun to see her feelings for him grow throughout the story- from celebrity crush to genuine friendship to more. Rhett's life is complicated and as their feelings grow, things have to be kept secret... and I'll be honest, I don't always like secret romances... but this one was done so well and actually really addressed the issue with them in the end. I truly could not get enough of these two. This is definitely one that kept me up past my bedtime, unable to put it down and I have no regrets! You definitely don't want to miss it!

I'm Not His Style is a closed-door romance, with nothing beyond kisses and no language.
