Queen of my Double-Wide Trailer by Kaci Lane: Book Review

*Book received for consideration. All thoughts are my own.

Son in Law meets Sweet Home Alabama as cultures collide when college friends enter a marriage of convenience to get what they need without help from their parents.

I need a green light on a green card ASAP.

If not, I’ll forfeit my new job in Alabama and have to move back to Oval Island.

Sure, it has perfect weather, beautiful beaches, and all my family. But it also has my ex—a lawyer, pilot, and the governor’s son, who the whole island is in love with. Well, except for me.

My solution? Propose a marriage of convenience to a friend. And by friend, I mean more of an acquaintance.

Liam may be a little rough around the edges, but he doesn’t think like your average guy with a closet full of camouflage—and that’s a good thing.

He’s American-born and raised, and I need citizenship. Also, his trailer is condemned, and he needs a place to live.

You may not can buy love, but it turns out you can buy a temporary husband . . . by buying him a new double-wide.

Kaci Lane is an Alabama girl whose mission in life is to write stories that relate to real-life issues with a bit of comic relief. While unsuccessfully trying to learn Spanish for a decade, she has become fluent in Sarcasm, Southern Belle and movie quotes. She is married to a true Southern gentleman and has two young children, all of which help keep her humility in check.

With a background and degree in journalism, Kaci has written almost everything about anything. Well, except for topics that would make any good Southern Baptist’s face turn the color of a Crimson Tide football jersey.

Queen of my Double-Wide Trailer is the third book in the Apple Cart County Christmas series. While characters from previous books make appearances, this could be enjoyed just fine as a standalone as well.

Having grown up on 90s country music (my first concert as a kid was actually Sammy Kershaw/Randy Travis), I must admit that I was completely drawn into this book from the moment I saw the title. I needed no other information to know I had to add it to my TBR. Of course, having also read and loved many other books by Kaci Lane and having a deep love of holiday romances, that only amplified my excitement to read it. Thankfully, it absolutely did not disappoint.

This book was such a fun read. Modern marriage of convenience has quickly become a favorite trope for me, and this story takes it on well. I always love the reasons that authors come up with for their characters to enter such an arrangement. In this case, Carmelita needs a green card and Liam's trailer is about to be condemned so he needs a new place to live, and she's got money for a new double wide. There was just something so sweet and simple about how their arrangement came about... and I very quickly fell in love with these two together. Once they get to his hometown, the holiday fun and humor really gets going. I found myself smiling throughout the story. While some of the characters and the traditions definitely feel a hair over the top--- there was also something really relatable about it too. Despite their elevated characters, having grown up in the country, there is something about many of these characters that also feels very familiar to me... and I absolutely love that! It was fun, it was sweet, and it had all the holiday cheer I absolutely adore! If you're looking for a lighthearted holiday read that will surely make you smile, this is it!

Queen Of My Double-Wide Trailer is a closed-door romance with nothing beyond kisses and no language.
