All Samantha Williams wants is to use her teaching degree to instruct a classroom of second graders. With a breast cancer diagnosis at the age of twenty-three, and failed reconstruction surgery, Sam finds herself without a job and temporarily living with her parents. This isn’t the life Sam expected. When a family friend dies and leaves Sam a house and land in Whispering Creek, Tennessee, Sam must decide if leaving Wisconsin for Southern living is in her lesson plans.

Nashville native, Cole Donoven, left his family’s electrical business to write country music. When Cole’s song writing partner and girlfriend dumps him for a country music star, Cole abandons Nashville to hold up in Whispering Creek and compose one more song. The last thing Cole expects to find in the sleepy small town is a deceased friend, estate squabbles, and a Northern beauty. Will the chaos in Whispering Creek help create a bestselling song for Cole and possibly help him find a life-long collaborator?

Holiday Memories That Lack the Light of Jesus
by Barbara M. Britton

Christmas brings back many fond memories. I remember presents under a sparkling tree, singing carols, and baking gingerbread men with my mom. Unfortunately, when I was young, I didn’t know Jesus. All the trimmings and sweet treats went to celebrate trees that died and gifts that fell out of favor.

By the grace of God, I attended church when I was in the third grade. My Mom had studied the Bible and had accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior. She fell in love with Jesus. Imagine my surprise when I learned that Christmas was all about God’s son stepping from eternity into time so he could die on a cross to pay the price for my sins. By believing in Jesus, I received forgiveness of sins, the Holy Spirit, and life eternal with God. My friends, that was the best Christmas blessing ever!

I look back at my early days and wonder how I missed the light of Jesus—especially at Christmas. I listened to carols about God’s son, watched the drummer boy worship a baby in a manger, and I even heard Linus recite Scripture from Luke 2 when Charlie Brown celebrated Christmas. None of those things resonated until I read the Bible and heard the Scriptures preached in church and explained in Sunday School. Praise God I had the chance to learn about Jesus.

My passion for writing Christian Fiction is to share the light of Jesus with Christians and unbelievers. True joy comes from living life with a loving Savior.

In “Christmas at Whispering Creek,” Sam’s faith has been tested by cancer. Cole has let his choices crowd Jesus from the center of his life. Through Scripture and the fellowship of believers, Sam and Cole experience a joyous (Jesus Others Yourself) Christmas in a new setting.

As a follower of Jesus, this time of year has me teaching about the light of the world with strings of lights, candy canes, and presents wrapped with Jesus’ name inside. For Jesus is the best gift ever, and the true reason for the season.

Luke 2:11:

Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. (NIV)

John 8:12:

When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (NIV)
