Keeping this secret gets complicated

with the family she wished for right next door.

Swapping places with her identical twin over the holidays sounds easy enough to Chanel Houston. But playing the role is trickier than expected when it comes to maintaining frosty relations with her sister’s neighbor and nemesis—especially since he has an adorable little girl and a rowdy puppy. Author Interview

Welcome, Zoey! Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions and allowing my readers a chance to get to know you and your new book The Christmas Switch.

I like to start these interviews the same way, with something fun to break the ice. Can you share 5 random facts about you that we will not find in your bio?

1.    I am a new grandmother.

2.    My two sons have served their country.

3.    I didn’t eat vegetables until my late thirties.

4.    I do not like onions.

5.    I have never learned how to swim.

When did you first discover you had a passion for writing?

When I was in my late 20s was the first time I wrote my first complete novel. But before that, I wrote short stories in Junior High and I also wrote love songs.

What drew you to inspirational romance?

I read a lot of authors in this genre and I grew up in a home where faith played a central part in everything we do. So I enjoy reading and now writing stories that uplift and that warms the heart. And, I love romances. The happy-ever-after, the feeling of love conquering all, all of that.

The Christmas Switch is your second novel with Love Inspired. How has the experience been different the second time around… both in the writing process and the excitement of seeing your words in print?

Writing a second book for Love Inspired is a little different in that I know the process the book will go through before it reaches readers. But, it is the same in that there are guidelines for the imprint that have to be met. It was exciting because I get to work with amazing editors who really help shape the story. It is always exciting seeing and holding your work in print. My smile is wide and my heart is warm.

The Christmas Switch is obviously a holiday romance. What are some of your favorite holiday traditions? Do any of those make their way into this story?

My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving. It is all about spending time with family and eating good food. Generally, we do it pot luck style where there is food for days and we go around telling each other things we are thankful for. It just brings us closer.

What was the most challenging part of bringing this story to life? The most rewarding?

The most challenging part of the story is ensuring that I show both of the characters journey overcoming pain in such a short read. The most rewarding was the scene with them in the garden. It ministered to me.

Can you tell us a little bit more about The Christmas Switch?

The Christmas Switch is about a twin who switches place with her sister and develops a friendship with the neighbor next door while falling in love with his little girl.

What do you hope readers will take away from the book?

I hope for readers to have a fun and entertaining read that encourages them at the same time. I hope for them to take away that your pain of the past does not have to define your future.

Thank you again for taking the time to answer these questions. Before you go, are there any other projects you are currently working on that you can share?

Absolutely! I am currently working on revisions to Mother for a Month which brings back two characters from The Adoption Surprise – Sienna and Joel. They are enemies that you love to read about. I am also hoping for the opportunity to introduce readers to a whole series around siblings and an inheritance.
