The NET Abide Bible: Bringing Art and Scripture Together Beautifully {A Review + Enter to Win!} #abidebible #abideinchrist #abide #bible #studybible @nelsonbibles

**I received a complimentary copy of this Bible for consideration. All thoughts are my own.

While every Bible might tell the same story of Jesus, they all offer a little something different. Some are ideal for studying, others for notetaking, some are more devotional based while others dive into history. No matter your individual preferences, it seems like there is something out there for each and every person. As a collector of Bibles, I have seen quite the variety of Bibles throughout the years. Different though they may all be, I do find that it's rare that I come across one anymore that truly surprises me, and has me thinking it's completely unlike any others I've seen.

But the Abide Bible did exactly that. Take a look:

Transform your personal Bible devotions into intimate, ongoing conversations with God with various Scripture engagement approaches that keep Bible reading fresh and new.

“Abide in Me.” John 15:4

Do you yearn for life-giving, intimate communion with God? The Abide Bible is designed to help you experience the peace, hope, and growth that comes from encountering the voice and presence of God in Scripture. Every feature in Abide is designed to teach and develop Scripture-engagement habits that help you know the power and spiritual nourishment of abiding in Christ.

Created in partnership with Bible Gateway and the Taylor University Center for Scripture Engagement, The Abide Bible’s features include articles, book introductions, and practical Scripture engagement prompts based on five ways of engaging deeply with the Bible:

  • Praying Scripture: Pattern your prayers after biblical texts, personalizing the prayer and gaining language for the thoughts and emotions you want to express.
  • Picture It: Place yourself in a biblical narrative as a bystander or participant in important events.
  • Journaling: Focus and reflect on Scripture and its meaning for your life, opening yourself to God’s voice as you ponder.
  • Engage Through Art: Consider a classic piece of art—photograph, sculpture, painting—and let it deepen your meditations on scriptural truths.
  • Contemplate: Follow the church’s longstanding practice of reading, meditating on, praying, and contemplating a passage of Scripture in order to experience God’s presence through the words of the Bible.

Features include:

  • Bible book introductions provide a concise overview of the background and historical context of the book about to be read
  • 365 Day Bible Reading Plan guiding you through the entire Bible in a year
  • Line-matched, single-column Scripture text for improved readability
  • Smyth-sewn binding lays flat in your hand or on your desk
  • Two satin ribbon markers allows you to easily navigate and keep track of where you were reading
  • Easy-to-read 9-point NET Comfort Print

The first thing that really struck me about this Bible was it's beautiful design. The NET version of the Abide Bible comes in three color options, but I personally fell absolutely in love with the Stone Leathersoft cover. Honestly, I didn't need to know any specifics to know it was going to be a must have for my collection.

Beautiful as the cover is though, it truly could not compare to what I found inside. This Bible is packed full of useful applications that helped to offer a deeper dive into God's Word. Contemplate, Praying Scriptures, Journaling... none of these are perhaps new ideas to studying the Bible, but this one was just done very well and I felt like all of this was really well done and great content overall.

The thing that truly set this Bible apart for me were the Engage Through Art sections... I'm not really certain what I expected from that, but it certainly wasn't what I found. Inside the pages, I found stunning full color prints of gorgeous artwork--- some I recognized and others I did not. Many of these were artwork that were clearly Christian in nature, and others some that I might not have associated with scripture right off. Personally, I have been a fan of Mary Cassatt since I was a child, and now as a mother find myself appreciating her artwork even more--- seeing some of her paintings included was an absolute delight. Fans of art and art history are certainly going to fall for this Bible just as I did, but I think even those who don't typically consider themselves fans of art will appreciate the beauty and uniqueness within these pages. I absolutely adore it!
