Hi Mindy! Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions and giving my readers the chance to get to know you and your newest book- A Brother’s Promise a little bit better!  I usually like to start these interviews the same way with 5 random facts about yourself, but since you’ve been here before, we’ll mix it up. Can you share 5 random facts about this book?

1.      The hero/heroine are a confirmed bachelor/bachelorette in their mid-forties.

2.      The cow-in-distress scene actually played out in my front yard.

3.      Christa’s dog, Dixie, was an homage to our beloved Golden Retriever that we lost in 2019.

4.      The beans and venison sausage Mick serves Christa is one of our favorite meals, except we don’t make our own sausage. We know people who do, though. 😉

5.      When I wrote about the storm in the story, I had to do a little research to make sure it was plausible for that part of Texas. Little did I know that ten days before the release of the book, those very scenes would play out across southeast Texas!

As a romance writer, you create some beautiful love stories that I have personally enjoyed. What are some of your own personal favorite love stories--- whether they be from books, television or real life?

First of all, thank you. You’re sweet to say that. I wish I could come up with a great answer for you, but I’m afraid I can’t. I do know that I am not a Mr. Darcy fan. I’ve tried to like the guy, but I just can’t. I suppose one of my favorite movie couples would be Lucy and Jack in While You Were Sleeping. Their romance just felt so natural.

What drew you to writing inspirational romance?

God. When I first began writing, I didn’t know there was such a thing as inspirational romance. Even after I learned about it, I resisted. But God lovingly showed me that my plans were not lining up with His. Relinquishing my writing to Him wasn’t easy, but I have never regretted it. Every book is a journey that brings me closer to God.

Can you tell us a little bit about A Brother’s Promise?

Mick is a confirmed bachelor who is suddenly thrust into the role of guardian for his five-year-old niece. His neighbor, Christa, lost her mother when she was five, so she understands a little bit about what Sadie is going through. As Mick and Christa work together to help Sadie adjust to her new norm, their friendship blossoms into something more. But they’ve both been burned by love before. Can they set aside past hurts to embrace the family neither realized they wanted?

Where did you find the inspiration for this story?

I knew Christa had been a savvy tech industry exec who’d ditched it all for a simpler life. So in looking for a partner for her I took the opposites-attract route. Throw in a little fish-out-of-water by having a single cowboy suddenly become a father and it seemed like the perfect blend.

What do you hope readers will take away from the book?

God has a plan and a purpose in everything, and He can bring beauty from ashes.

A Brother’s Promise is the second book in the Bliss, Texas series. Will readers who have not read the first book be able to enjoy this one on its own?

Yes. Though it might make them want to go back and read the first book. 😉

Thank you again for taking the time to answer these questions. Before you go, are there any other projects you are currently working on that you can share?

I’m finishing up the last book in my Bliss, Texas series. Rae’s is a Christmas story that will be out at the end of the year. However, Paisley’s story, A Future to Fight For, will be out in August.
