Glory Falls

Title: Glory Falls
Series: Madison River Romance #3
Author: Janine Rosche
Publisher: Berkley Books
Genre: Christian Contemporary Romance
Release Date: January 12, 2021

Two people scarred by past trauma have a chance to write a new chapter in their lives, overcome loss, and find love in the third entry in the Madison River Romance series.

Screenwriter Cecilia "Blue" Walker is victim to life's worst plot twists. Having lost her daughter to the depths of the Madison River and her husband to the arms of another woman, she finds herself yearning for something to restore her brittle faith and once-vibrant career.

Hope arrives in the form of her childhood friend, Thomas Beck, a firefighter with a legacy of larger-than-life rescues who doesn't see himself as a hero. Haunted by his past, Thomas only agrees to a movie adaptation of his story if Blue, his longtime crush, is the screenwriter.

However, as Blue and Thomas work together to bring his heroism to the big screen, the glitz and glamour of Hollywood threaten to shed light on secrets that could tear their fragile relationship and their lives apart.

BOOKS IN THIS SERIES

Janine Rosche

Prone to wander, Janine Rosche finds as much comfort on the open road as she does at home. This longing to chase adventure, behold splendor, and experience redemption is woven into her Madison River Romance series. When she isn’t writing or traveling, she teaches family life education courses to college students, takes too many pictures of her sleeping dogs, and embarrasses her four children and husband with boy band serenades.

Hi Janine! Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions and giving my readers the chance to get to know you and your new book- Glory Falls a little bit better!  I like to start these interviews the same way with something fun to break the ice: can you share 5 random facts about yourself that we will NOT find in your bio?

 1.    I was the 1995 Ohio High School State Champion in Marine Physical Fitness.

2.    My family tree is packed with famous criminals, most notably, The Dalton Gang (a band of outlaws) and the Billingtons (the sons nearly blew up the Mayflower and the father was the first person to murder someone in Plymouth colony and then the first person to be hanged).

3.    I’m a huge Civil War buff, especially the Battle of Gettysburg.

4.    My celebrity crush is the host of Man vs. Food.

5.    I can peel a banana with my toes.

Let’s talk writing! When did you first discover that you had a love and talent for writing?

I had the most amazing teachers. Starting in third grade with Mrs. Skernolis, I had several speak into my heart and tell me I had a talent for story. Aren’t teachers the best? My father, a writer himself, encouraged me to pursue writing for publication. In fact, one of the last times we shared before he passed away in 2015, was attending his local writers’ group together.

What drew you to the inspirational romance genre?

Romance was always a given. I used to watch Sesame Street and hope that Maria and Gordon would fall in love. I don’t think I realized at the time they were married to other people! Romance is in my blood. I never specifically set out to write inspirational romance, but for me personally, when I experience struggle, temptation, adventure, or heartache, I lean into my faith. It’s only natural that my characters would as well.

You live in Ohio now, but previously have lived or travelled all across the US. Do you find that travelling and meeting a wide variety of people have helped you to become a better writer? How so?

Absolutely. I’ve moved sixteen times in forty years, lived in eight different states, and thanks to my wanderlust, I’ve travelled to most of the states in the continental U.S. Every city, every state, every region has its own personality and its own culture. That has helped open my eyes to different perspectives and experiences. It’s helped me be more aware and sensitive to what readers across the spectrum might be going through when they read my books.

According to your bio, you love to embarrass your family with boy band serenades. I must admit this is a favorite pastime of mine as well! Ha! Which is your favorite boy band and what is your favorite go to song to serenade?

Hands down, I Want It That Way by Backstreet Boys probably followed by Iesha by Another Bad Creation. Does anyone remember them?

Can you tell us a little bit about Glory Falls

At its core, Glory Falls is about standing beside someone in their grief, their shame, their sorrow, or their fear. It’s about showing up when someone needs you. Cecilia “Blue” Walker has lost both her child, her philandering celebrity husband, and her career in screenwriting. With nothing left to lose, she returns to Montana’s Madison River Canyon where she’d spent her summers as a child, hopping creeks and stargazing with the neighbor boy. Thomas Beck is no longer the awkward ten-year-old kid, but a gorgeous (yet still awkward) firefighter who has earned a reputation for his rescues. Blue has the chance to regain her career by writing a screenplay of Thomas’s heroic life, but returning to Montana and facing the past is not as easy as she’d hoped.

What do you hope readers will take away from the book?

I hope readers will see that no matter what trials they go through there is a God whose heart breaks with yours, and whose goodness still surrounds you even when it is hard to see. Even when we’ve turned away from Him. And even when we’ve made mistakes that seem unforgivable.

Thank you again for taking the time to answer these questions. Before you go, are there any other projects you are currently working on that you can share?

I have a new series set near Breckenridge, Colorado. The first book, Aspen Crossroads, comes out September 14th and is already up on Amazon and Goodreads for people to shelve if they’d like.
