A Modern Day Fairy Tale

Faith. Family. Fiction. Fun.

Three accessories you can add to your summer wardrobe

As the temperatures rise and the days stretch out, you’re probably planning lots of fun activities for summer, from barbecues and pool parties to road trips and sunbathing on the beach. However, how can you update your look to ensure that you remain at the height of summer fashion? Here are three accessories you can add to your summer wardrobe.

1.   Hat

As the temperatures increase and the sun beats down ever more incessantly, you can become at risk of sunstroke, an illness that can occur due to prolonged exposure to high temperatures. Wearing a hat will help you to avoid this by keeping you shaded. There are many attractive summer hat styles for you to try that are sure to appeal to you, whatever your taste. A fedora (along with similar, summer-specific Panama, made of straw) is a classic hat style that suits both men and women and can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. If you are going for a more glam look, you cannot go wrong with a wide-brimmed floppy hat, which is sure to give you Joan Collins at Saint Tropez vibes. Alternatively, keep it simple and sporty with a classic baseball cap.

2.   Sunglasses
Sunglasses are an essential accessory to stop your eyes from being dazzled by the glaring sun, and definitely not something to leave the house without during the summer months. You could go for big, round, face shading sunglasses, for that glam 1970s look, or keep things up-to-date with the early-noughties inspired small rectangular glasses trending for 2020. Or, for a classic look, you can’t go wrong with aviators. If you wear prescription glasses, you might mistakenly think that on-trend sunglasses are out of your league. However, that is not the case. A specialist eyeglasses store such as DIFF Eyewear offers a range of unique, stylish sunglasses that can then be adjusted to have lenses with your specific prescription. In this way, you will be able to remain stylish and on-trend while still being confident that you will be able to see clearly.

3.  Sandals
There’s nothing worse than having sweaty feet when it’s too hot. Sandals help to circulate the air around your feet, keeping them fresh and – hopefully – smell free. Sandals are available in every style for both men and women, to suit your every need. For example, utility sandals, if you’re planning on hiking or prioritize comfort over style. In this case, make sure you choose sandals with Gore-Tex soles, which will help to increase breathability and comfort if you’re on your feet all day. For a big night out, opt for heeled sandals, with either a stiletto or wedge heel, depending on how much discomfort you can tolerate. You can also water-resistant sandals if you are planning on visiting the beach or the swimming pool. Havaianas, for instance, are an iconic Brazilian beach flip flop popular with everyone from celebrities to the average person on the street.
