A Modern Day Fairy Tale

Faith. Family. Fiction. Fun.

Celebrate Reading with a Book Inspired Craft Round-Up!

March is here! And you know what that means?

It's National Reading Month! Tomorrow, we celebrate the birthday of Dr. Seuss and Read Across America Day! In my house, books are certainly something worth celebrating! And today I'm doing so by sharing a round up of a few of our favorite craft projects inspired by some of our favorite book characters! Enjoy!

Captain Underpants Popsicle Stick Puppet

If you have a kid who loves a good fart joke, this book series is for them! And it's among my son's favorites! These little puppets are a fun way to bring them to life.

Check them out here: https://www.amoderndayfairytale.net/2017/06/tra-la-la-diy-captain-underpants.html

Wimpy Kid Mask

Another of my son's favorites! We created this fun mask a few Halloweens ago, but it's fun for the Wimpy Kid fan ANY time of the year!

Check it out here: https://www.amoderndayfairytale.net/2015/10/halloween-wimpy-kid-style-easy-diy-mask.html

Simple DIY Truffula Tree

These are super simple for even the youngest of crafters...and so fun too! What a great way to celebrate Dr. Seuss, right?

See how it's done here: https://www.amoderndayfairytale.net/2017/03/celebrate-dr-seuss-with-diy-truffula.html

Grinch Ornament + T-Shirt

Okay, these might be a little Christmas-y... but we love the Grinch all year long!

Or create your very own Grinch t-shirt here: https://www.amoderndayfairytale.net/2018/11/celebrate-grinchmas-with-diy-grinch-tee.html

The Flash Popsicle Stick Puppet

If you ask me, reading is reading...and that includes comic books too, so I couldn't forget to include one of our very favorite comic book heroes in this little round up.
