How well do you know your neighborhood and the people that live there?

We all like to think we have a pretty good knowledge and understanding about the community in which we have made our home, but sometimes the reality is far from the perception. Everything we thought we knew shows us nothing about what goes on behind every closed door. The newest book in the Lavender Tides series from Colleen Noble- Secrets at Cedar Cabin- reminds us of just that:

From USA TODAY bestselling author Colleen Coble comes the third book in her beloved Lavender Tides series.
Her mother lied about her identity and her husband wasn’t who she thought he was—can Bailey even trust herself anymore?
Running for her life in the wake of her mother’s murder, Bailey Fleming escapes to the only place she can think of—a remote, dilapidated cabin in Lavender Tides. Intending to finally get to the truth behind the lies of her past, Bailey only finds more questions when bodies are discovered near her cabin hideout along with traces of a dangerous human trafficking ring. In an unlikely partnership with FBI agent Lance Phoenix, Bailey races to understand the mystery surrounding her life and circumstances before the murderer tracks her down.
Meanwhile, Lance is determined to rescue his sister, Ava, who was abducted after running away from home as a teenager. An unexpected lead brings him to the remote cabin, and he wonders if Bailey—with her suspicious past and strange connections to his sister’s case—is really who she claims to be and if she can somehow lead him to Ava.
Filled with Colleen Coble's custom blend of suspense and romance, Secrets at Cedar Cabin takes us back to the evocative landscape of Washington's coast where nothing is quite as it seems.
This is the third book in the Lavender Tides series, but only the second one I had read. While it had been awhile since reading book two, I had some vague familiarity with the characters from that previous book, so it made it pretty easy to jump right back in. I did still find a few references that I didn't quite catch, either from my poor memory of the last one or having not read book number one in the series. Still, even with that, I was able to catch up pretty quickly. Each novel has a story all its own, so while I would certainly suggest reading the series entirely for the full picture, it could stand on its own as well... especially once the story really starts going.

And that happens very early on in the story! The action and mystery are there from the start keeping us guessing and wondering what's going to happen, simply unable to put the book down. Now, I read many mystery type stories and find that I am often able to figure out the whodunnit it fairly early on. This book- while giving us a look at some of the goings on that our lead characters aren't aware of- still had enough twists and turns that kept you wondering how it was all going to end. Packed full of secrets and drama, you really didn't know what to expect. I could not get enough! This was definitely one of those books that kept me saying, 'Just one more chapter'... right until I finished reading in a day! It was that good! I loved it, and find myself looking forward to reading more from Colleen Coble in the future.

If you love drama and mystery with some faith mixed in beautifully, this is a must read.
