Hidden Peril {A Book Review}

**Book received for consideration. All thoughts are 100% my own.

It's the time of the year when so many like to be a little scared.

What is it about being spooked that so many people enjoy!? Haunted houses, slasher films, etc... so many people just can't get enough. While I don't personally prefer these methods of getting a little fright in this time of year, I can ALWAYS go for a good ol' fashioned murder mystery.

Today, I'm sharing with you a book that can provide just that, 'Hidden Peril':

As teenagers, Kristin Dane and her two best friends took a vow to make the world a better place. Twenty years later, she's fulfilling that pledge through her fair trade shop that features products from around the world. All is well until, one by one, people connected to the shop begin dying.
Detective Luke Carter, new to the St. Louis PD, wants to know why. Before he can answer that question, however, the FBI weighs in and Kristin suddenly finds herself in the middle of international intrigue--and in the sights of the ruthless mastermind behind an ingenious and deadly, scheme. Can this cold-blooded killer be stopped before more people die . . . including Kristin?
Three-time RITA Award-winner and "queen of inspirational romantic suspense" (Library Journal) Irene Hannon doesn't disappoint in this edge-of-your-seat thriller that will have readers up late as they rush toward the explosive conclusion.

From the moment I started reading, I was instantly drawn into this story. The suspense started very early on and had me wanting to keep on going to find out what would happen next. In fact, I was so drawn in that I finished it in just one night! The characters were well developed, the story unique and just overall a great read.

Now, I must admit, I did figure out the twist ending (the whodunnit, so to speak) fairly early on... but then I read and watch a lot of mysteries too. Even still, I loved it, and I think having that hunch early on actually DID encourage me to want to read faster to see if my instincts were correct.

As much as I love a good mystery, I also love a good romance too. This truly was the perfect combination of BOTH. The hints at a romance were there from the very start... and to be honest, they weren't just hints but glowing neon signs. You knew it was going to happen in the end, and that really kept you rooting for them and reading on to see how it will all play out. I loved the relationship, and honestly wished the story would continue on so we could see even more of it. Even better, as a Christian suspense, it was still very clean which is something I personally always look for in a romance.

If you love a good mystery or a good romance, this is certainly a must read. It is available to purchase now at your favorite Christian book retailers.

  1. An amazing romantic suspense. More suspense than romantic, but still highly entertaining. A Terrorist plot involving homemade candles from Syria? Very interesting and unique.
