Each year on my children's birthdays, I ask them a series of questions.
- What's your favorite color?
- What are your favorite toys?
- What do you want to be when you grow up?
It's interesting to look back each year to see which of these answers change, and which ones stay the same. I'm pretty nostalgic that way. I must admit I'm guilty of checking my Facebook memories each and every day, and reminiscing about how much the kids have grown up already!
But as great as Facebook or simple birthday questions are, sometimes they don't quite capture the feelings... where their hearts our, what they think about, etc.
Today I'm excited to share a fun new journal that can help us to just that, The Daily Question For You and Your Child:
A fun, thought-provoking 365-question guided journal and keepsake that sparks daily interaction with your child to create a memory book capturing your child's life, personality, and faith journey.
This interactive prompted journal allows a parent to create a keepsake of three years of their child's life. By answering each of the 365 questions together on the same date each year, readers will get a unique and precious picture into their child's feelings, development, and personality. Some of the questions focus on spirituality and the child's heart, while some are meant to capture their creativity, spirit, and sense of humor. All questions spark conversations and memories that span well beyond the pages of this book.
What a fun idea, right? Each day we simply ask our children a question and record their answer into the journal. The next day, we do it again. When the year has passed, we come right back to that initial question and start all over again... for three years total. It's a similar idea to that whole birthday questionaire, but with more in depth questions. Some examples include, 'What is the best dream you've ever had?', 'How did you show kindness to someone today?' or 'What is your favorite thing God created?'. Questions range from simple things like their favorites, to more in depth questions that will really challenge them to think and answer more thoughtfully. The questions are also seasonal, which makes it very fun too... though you can start anytime in the year!
I had previously seen original 'The Daily Question' journal, as written for adults, but I love that is one truly is a great way not just to grow in faith, but to truly get to know our children in a whole new way. It opens up conversations, it encourages us to talk, it creates a lasting family memory that we will cherish for many years to come... and that's a pretty amazing thing, isn't it?
Ready to get started? 'The Daily Question For You and Your Child' will be available on August 28. You can preorder now from Amazon.
