Dive Into Summer with National Geographic Kids & Finding Dory {An Oceans Book & Dory Plush Giveaway} #FindingDory

Just Keep Swimming! Just keep swimming!

If your little ones are anything like mine, chances are they have fallen hard for the Finding Dory craze!! And what's not to fall for, right? I remember watching the first movie and instantly falling in love with these fun characters- especially Dory whose memory is even worse than my own awful memory. When we heard that there was to be a sequel, we were pretty excited! We haven't had the chance to see Finding Dory just yet, but we've only heard good things.

With the excitement of the movie in the air, what better time is there than to use it as an educational moment! Just because school is out, doesn't mean the learning has to end! And when you draw them in with these characters they already know and love, it's not even a chore! It's just fun!

National Geographic books truly are ideal for this! So, we were excited to hear about two great new books that are just perfect for summer fun- with water and Dory on our minds! Check them out:

Ocean Animals: Who's Who in the Deep Blue ($12.99, ages 8-12) is an oversized book and it needs to be!  Featuring huge, stunning underwater photographs this book covers it all -- from life in coral reefs to sharks and rays, to bizarre creatures of the deep and even sea birds -- and all the favorites from Finding Dory including, sea lions, octopus, beluga whales, whale sharks and of course clown fish and Dory herself -- blue tangs!

Ocean Animals Sticker Activity Book (ages 4-8, $6.99) has over 1,000 cool stickers of the most popular, adorable, ferocious and weird ocean animals, like dolphins, coral, fish, sea turtles, seals and more. Also included are skill-building puzzles and mazes, spelling and pattern games, drawing, photos, facts, and other activities that will keep kids you entertained (and learning) for hours on end. Perfect for road trips and plane rides!

Now, when I first showed my children these books, of course the first thing they both (at 2 and 8 years old) noticed was Dory! The real life Dory (blue tang) was right on the cover of both books! They were instantly drawn in! For my son, the Ocean Animals: Who's Who in the Deep Blue was the favorite. He loved learning more about the real life animals that inspired his favorite characters from Finding Nemo, but more than any of those he loved learning about the sharks. He has recently fallen in love with them and couldn't wait to learn more! This book truly is packed full of interesting facts, but it's full of colorful pictures and designed in such a way that kids truly don't feel like they are learning!

For some more interactive fun, Ocean Animals Sticker Activity Book is ideal. My daughter was instantly drawn to this one. While she is not quite old enough to truly enjoy everything this book has to offer, she love looking at all the fun stickers! But for my son, this again is another fun way to make learning fun! It is packed full with fun activities like mazes and connect the dots and color by numbers. Mixed in with all the fun activities are more fun facts too! It's the perfect companion to the Who's Who book, but is perfect as a stand alone as well. Heading on a trip to Sea World or your local aquarium? This is the perfect way to keep the kids occupied along the drive!
