Trail of the Brave by Susan May Warren: Book Review

**ARC received for consideration. All opinions are my own.

The Book

A father who trusts no one, a woman who's stopped trusting herself, and a dog everyone has written off--they're a seven-year-old girl's only hope.

When legendary Iditarod musher Wilder Frost collapses on her porch, veterinarian Stormi White must face her self-doubt. She's spent years trying to be everything to everyone, but she's certain she's failed. Even her own dog, Rome, a former K9 cadaver dog who lost his scent, is just one more thing she couldn't fix. Or so she believes.

Wilder has one rule: Keep everyone at arm's length. It's how he's kept his seven-year-old daughter, Luna, alive while staying one step ahead of the men who murdered his wife. But when his past finally catches up and Luna vanishes into the frozen wilderness, Wilder is forced to put her life in the hands of a woman he barely knows--and a dog no one believes in.

As a killer closes in and a storm descends, Stormi, Wilder, and Rome race across treacherous Alaskan terrain in a desperate search for Luna. But the deadliest distance isn't measured in miles--it's the space between their hearts. What if the only way to save Luna is to risk the one thing they swore they'd never lose--each other?

This adrenaline-infused romantic suspense from Susan May Warren will captivate you with nonstop action and adventure, a handsome hero, and a heroic K9 rescue dog.

A thrilling romantic suspense novel with pulse-pounding action, a single dad, and a heroic K9 rescue dog in Alaska. Fans of Lynette Eason, Dani Pettrey, and Elizabeth Goddard will enjoy this adrenaline-infused read.

That’s why my characters seem to get into one scrape after another—they’re too much like me! I love God, my family, my country, my church, and feel privileged every day to be able to write stories.

Book Review

Simply put, I adore Susan May Warren's books. Every time I pick one up, I know the romance will be swoony, the adventure will be high, and the faith with be apparent. This one was no exception, drawing me in right from the very start and keeping me wondering what would happen through to the end. I've said in the past that I always love when weather or nature adds an extra layer of danger to a suspense, and this is definitely something that Susan does really well too. The romance between Stormi and Wilder was done so well, perfectly balanced with the suspense. If you like protective heroes, action that will keep you on the edge of your seat, and K9 rescue, this is definitely one you'll want to add to your TBR. It is the third book in the Call of the Wild series, and while I do recommend the series as a whole, I do think it could be enjoyed as a standalone as well.
