Series: Dearly Beloved #2
Author: Deb L. Brown
Publisher: Peshina Publishing
Release Date: November 2, 2026
Genre: Contemporary Christian Women's Fiction
Can a woman rediscover herself after spending decades putting everyone else first?
With an empty nest and a marriage that leaves her feeling less like a soulmate and more like a roommate, Brenda throws herself into helping everyone around her. But no amount of serving can fill the ache inside. When her mother's health fails, Brenda embraces the role of caregiver, convinced that the only way for her to feel loved is by being needed.
As the responsibilities of caring for an aging parent intensify, she slowly loses sight of herself. The more she pours her energy into serving others, the more depleted she feels. A friend's divorce forces her to take a hard look at her own marriage, while Marcus's health struggles reveal a side of her husband she has overlooked for years.
Caught in the midlife demands of the sandwich generation, Brenda wonders if she can find purpose after motherhood.
From This Day Forward is a stand-alone book in the Dearly Beloved series. This Christian novel has themes of marriage renewal, caregiving, and reinventing yourself in the second half of life. For fans of Karen Kingsbury, Katie Powner, Sara Brunsvold, and Amanda Cox.

Welcome, Deb! Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions and giving my readers a chance to get to know you and your new book From This Day Forward.
Can you share 5 random facts about yourself that we won’t find in your bio?
- The town I grew up in is the home of the Goodyear Blimp.
- I had my first and only ambulance ride in high school. It was for a mock drunk-driving accident.
- I play the piano, but not very often anymore.
- I wore a back brace in middle school for scoliosis.
- I’ve been a small business owner several times. My first was cleaning homes. I hate cleaning.
When did you first discover you had a passion for writing?
I’ve always enjoyed writing, whether it was poetry in high school, journaling, or blogging. It wasn’t until I felt a nudge from God in my fifties that I attempted writing fiction. I love it!
What was the inspiration behind From This Day Forward?
I was writing my first book and created a side character, Brenda, who was the annoying mother-in-law. As I wrote that book, I realized Brenda needed her own story so that we could understand why she was the way she was and what she was going through. I also feel like we need more characters of diverse ages. As a woman in my fifties, it was fun to write about my age and stage of life.
When I began writing it, I was looking for a medical condition for Brenda’s mom that would create a situation where Brenda needed to care for her mother. My uncle struggled with congestive heart failure for several years before he passed away. His journey inspired that thread of the story.
What was the most challenging part of bringing this story to life?
Having lost my uncle to congestive heart failure, revisiting the symptoms, tests, and monitoring brought back memories of his journey. I wanted to honor the realities of the disease without making it his story.
The most rewarding?
I loved bringing elements of every-day mid-life challenges onto the page. Showing perimenopause symptoms, a character with sleep apnea, and a couple navigating the new dynamics of an empty nest was a lot of fun.
I also enjoyed bringing in a multi-generational aspect and showing how each generation approaches raising children differently. The experts have new research and data telling parents the “right” way to do things that often overrides what was done in previous generations.
Describe your main character(s) in three words.
Brenda: cookies, hot flashes, eager
Marcus: civil engineer, snoring, aloof
Carol: crocheter, dog-mom, spunky
What do you hope readers will take away from the book?
God knows you and loves you for who you are, not for what you do.
