Yellowstone Holiday by Hillary Slaughter: Book Review

**ARC received for consideration. All opinions are my own.

The Book

She came to the cabin for a fresh start. Instead, she's getting a second chance.

When people-pleaser Tory Allen’s life falls apart, she retreats to the one place she’s always felt like herself—her family’s cabin. Armed with a car full of sugary cereal, her giant white dog, and absolutely no plan, she’s determined to spend a week getting her life back on track.

Instead of solitude, she finds Brad—her commitment-phobic childhood best friend and the guy she definitely doesn’t have unresolved feelings for—staying right next door. But after their friendship fell apart last year, “awkward” doesn’t begin to cover it.

Avoiding each other quickly proves impossible, and somewhere between late-night movie marathons and long drives around Yellowstone, Tory begins to realize that maybe starting over doesn’t have to mean starting alone. But as feelings surface and new dreams take shape, Tory and Brad will have to decide—are they meant to play it safe and stay just friends… or risk everything for something more?

Book Review

I'll be honest, I've never had much desire to travel to Yellowstone or any of the National Parks. But reading about them? Now that I can certainly get behind! Right from the start, I was drawn into Tory and Brad's story. They were best friends since childhood who had a falling out due to the guy she was dating. Ten months later, they're both single and unexpectedly find themselves on holiday at their family's neighboring cabins. Friends to love is always a fun one because of the history there and there was certainly plenty of that here with their families' longtime friendships. More than anything though, I loved how he encouraged her to consider what SHE wanted... something that doesn't come easy to a people pleaser. Their story was sweet and cozy, and I found myself rooting for these two to get their happily ever after! If you enjoy friends to love, he falls first, and National Park adventures (with some Audrey Hepburn references thrown in too), this is certainly one worth checking out.

Yellowstone Holiday is a closed-door romance with kisses only and no language.
