At the start of a relationship, it's all about the butterflies and the passion... you go crazy with the way you feel about the person you love. After many years of marriage, that love is still there... but you might find at some point, you also just start to drive each other crazy.

So... why is that?

That's just the question that this book, Why Couples Drive Each Other Crazy by Dr. Ricky Arenson, seeks to answer.

About the Book:

Why Couples Drive Each Other Crazy: a funny, science grounded relationship book on how men and women are wired differently and how couples can stop fighting and keep love alive. Playful and intentionally provocative, built for married couples. This is the retitled, reworked version of his earlier Women Are Superior to Men.

Why is it that the person you love the most can also drive you the craziest?

It's one of life's greatest mysteries—and one that science can help explain.

Why do some men walk past a pile of dirty laundry without noticing it? Why do they suddenly become experts at changing the subject when serious emotions enter the conversation? And why can't they find the ketchup that's sitting right in front of them?

Meanwhile…

Why do some women remember conversations from years ago with astonishing detail? Why do they want to discuss important relationship issues at the worst possible moment? And why do couples keep having the same arguments over and over again?

In Why Couples Drive Each Other Crazy and How to Stop It, physician, award-winning author, and relationship expert, Dr. Ricky Arenson combines psychology, neuroscience, biology, and decades of clinical experience to explain why men and women often think, communicate, and respond differently. With humor, compassion, and practical advice, he shows couples how to replace frustration with understanding and conflict with connection.

Inside you'll discover:

• Why men and women often approach problems, emotions, and communication differently

• The most common reasons couples argue—and proven strategies for resolving conflict

• Ten practical rules for building a stronger, happier relationship

• Nine essential principles for creating lasting love and trust

• Healthy ways to navigate intimacy and build a more satisfying sex life

• How to strengthen your relationship after becoming parents

• Practical tools for resolving disagreements without damaging your relationship

• How to recognize when a relationship can be repaired—and when it may be time to let go

If you're looking for thoughtful relationship advice, practical self-help strategies, or one of today's most insightful marriage books, you'll find science-based tools you can begin using immediately.

Because once couples understand why they drive each other crazy, they're much more likely to stop doing it.

Fewer arguments. More laughter. Better communication. Stronger intimacy. A happier life. (Men still may not be able to find the ketchup.)

To be honest, I don't read a ton of marriage books, or really too much nonfiction in general these days, but when I have, one thing that has certainly never happened before was that it made me laugh out loud.

Until this one.

When I tell you that this one had me literally laughing out, I'm not kidding! Dr. Ricky Arenson should certainly add comedian to his list of accolades. In all seriousness though, this book was as informative as it was entertaining. Having been married a good many years (about 20), I could definitely see some truths in what he wrote. And while there were many things that I may have already known to some degree, he explained things in a way that were very relatable and that just made sense... like maybe I knew that, but it made me look at it a little differently. He acknowledged the differences in how men and women think and how knowing that can help strengthen relationships. Whether you've been in a relationship for years or are just starting out, I think there's something each of us could pick up from this one... all while being entertained at the same time!
