Book Review

Simply put... wow, what a story! There is not a Marion De Ré book I have read that I didn't enjoy, but this one is going to be hard to top as a favorite! I truly was not prepared for the emotional roller coaster this one took me on! Of course, we get that humor and lightness that I love in Marion's writing, but we also have the realities of Lewis's accident and what that has taken from him... both physically and mentally. At times, this story was absolutely heartbreaking...you couldn't help but feel everything that Lewis was feeling right along with him. But the romance between Lewis and Marcie brought such a light to the story too. The chemistry between them was apparent from their very first meeting. He falls first and hard, but I loved how she showed up for him despite her brother's protests... I have to say, as much as I love a good brother's best friend romance, it turns out, brother's enemy is a fun little twist... and I loved it. Perhaps the most beautiful thing about this story though is that it's based on a true story of the author's dad who suffered the same injury as Lewis back in the 80s. She breaks down the truth vs. fiction at the end, and it only made me love this story and the way it ended that much more. Truly, a must read!
