Daniel didn’t know it, but the word “ring” was becoming quite the trigger for me. It had been for most of the past year. While I hoped marriage barged into his thoughts as much as it did mine, I knew that, just like how we’d started dating, I moved a lot faster than he did. I needed to give him time and space. That didn’t stop me from fantasizing about the moment, though. My ability to wait was growing into a superpower that I was hoping he’d kryptonite. The moment I thought Daniel was ready, and if he hadn’t proposed by then, I might crack concrete in my haste to take a knee.
