Author Interview

Can you tell us a little bit about what readers can expect from your books?
Biblically based and humorous stories with very important life lessons from my own personal experiences with principles that can apply to everyone.

What is the greatest advice you have ever been given about writing?
To simply be myself and share the story as God uniquely gave it to me.

What book made you fall in love with reading?
I’ve always had an insatiable desire for Bible story and leadership principles while seeing them through a very practical lens. The ability to do that through the written word allows you to see the heart of an individual like few other things.

Can you share 5 random facts about this book?
Each story in my books actually happened to me. The main characters are my family members. I chose the name Cutler on purpose as a cutler is a person who creates eating utensils. I wrote the story in just a couple of days. It was a friend who suggested that I turn the premise of the story into a children’s book which I never even considered!

What was the inspiration behind it?
I created this story years ago to get my kids to understand that they are who God says they are. Not shifting societal norms, not products of their environment or even their own low feelings of self-esteem. I wanted them to never cheapen the gift of who they are by comparing it to someone else. God created them on purpose and for a unique purpose they only they could fulfill. So, then their value is not a product of what they’ve been told or come to believe over time but instead a result of their Creator’s grand and wonderful design. They are all masterpieces in the eyes of God.

Can you share something interesting or surprising you learned while researching for the book?
It honestly wasn’t much research. The biggest revelation that I had was just how practical my story was to every age and walk of life. Children with poor self-identity eventually become adults with the same. This leads to wandering in purpose and unfulfillment. All of this can be avoided by seeking the One who created us all.

What was the most challenging part of bringing this book to life?
Just making sure that they concepts would be easy enough for kids to understand while still challenging adults to find their God-given purpose as well.

What was the most rewarding?
Reading to groups of kids who truly understand the heart of the book as they realize just how special they are.

What do you hope readers will take away from the book?
That they don’t have to compare themselves to others. God has a unique purpose for us all that will He is just waiting for us to discover – if we only choose to ask and connect with Him.

Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions. Before you go, where can readers keep up with what’s next?
For now, on my Amazon author page (Aaron P. Gordon) but my own personal website will be coming soon!
