Dare to Fall by Amber Nicole: Book Review

**ARC received for consideration. All opinions are my own.

The Book

My friends just dared me to ask the most annoyingly decent man I know to be my fake date to the gala.

One night. Show up, smile, make my ex jealous. Go home.

The plan is simple. He plays the part, I get closure, and we both walk away like nothing happened.

Except nothing about him has ever been simple.

He's steady. Faithful. All dimples and thick-framed glasses, the kind of man who shows up when it matters—and somehow sees more than I ever say out loud.

And the longer we pretend, the harder it is to remember what's real.

I'm so busy trying to make the wrong man jealous, I almost miss what's happening right in front of me.

When I thank him for this favor, he answers like he's teasing. "You've found my weakness."

"And that is?" I ask, but I can hear the truth behind it.

"You."

It was supposed to last one night—a fake date, a favor, a friend I was never supposed to fall for.

It doesn't.

Because some dares remain forever.

Dare to Fall is a clean, slow-burn Christian romance filled with fake-dating tension, friends-to-lovers longing, achingly honest faith questions, and swoon-worthy almost-moments. Perfect for readers who love protective heroes with terrible dad jokes, heroines learning the difference between striving and remaining, and love stories that lead you straight back to grace.

The Author

Amber Nicole writes emotionally rich, clean romance stories filled with swoony moments, second chances, and grace. After years of writing steamy romance, Amber felt a stirring in her heart to shift directions—trading heat for heart and choosing to tell stories that honor her faith.

Now, she creates heartfelt love stories that are both tender and true, often featuring strong heroines, protective heroes, and love that grows slowly but deeply. Her debut Christian romance, Dare to Hold, invites readers into a world of redemption, intentional love, and hope that never gives up.

When she’s not writing, Amber is a wife, a mom of three, and gets to work with authors for her day job—something that inspires her daily. She lives on coffee, Jesus, and Nerds Clusters.

Book Review

From the moment we first saw Micah and Harper together in Dare to Hold, I was hooked. Their banter was absolute perfection, and I just knew right away that their romance was going to be a good one. Needless to say, I had high expectations going into this one... and thankfully, it met and exceeded them all. Oh, Micah and Harper... I just loved them so much! First, the romance... I love a good fake dating story, and this one was done so well. She needs a fake date to make her ex jealous... and he's been pining for her from the time they met. No risk for complications there at all. The chemistry between these two was really sweet, and I couldn't help but love all that yearning. But what I think Amber Nicole truly does so brilliantly is mixing that swoon worthy romance into a story that is also unapologetically Christian, always pointing it right back to Jesus in a way that feels genuine... these characters aren't perfect Christians and don't always get it right, but I love that they're not afraid to ask the hard questions and to strive to figure it out. It's relatable and beautiful, and I absolutely love it. I cannot wait to see what is going to happen next in this series!

Dare to Fall is a Christian romance with kisses only and no language. It is the second full book in the Dare to Love series. While you might have some better understanding of some of the friendship dynamics (AND you'll get to see Micah and Harper's meet cute), this could probably be enjoyed as a standalone as well.
