The Book
Echelon Vanguard bought her.
He refuses to let them keep her.
Thea
When you’re five, and people ask what you want to be when you grow up, the answers are simple.
Princess. Doctor. Astronaut.
When you’re twenty-one—when you’re expected to know—the answer doesn’t come so easily.
I drift through community college, unsure of my path, but everything changes when my father chooses money over my future.
I’m sold to a secret society in Chicago, where they trade power as easily as people. Except there’s one man who doesn’t fit.
Slade DuPont doesn’t speak, but he watches everything.
Watches me.
He isn’t cruel. He isn’t careless. And sometimes, it feels like he’s trapped here too.
His fixation fractures into something deeper. Something dangerous.
He may be the only one who can save me.
Slade
My life’s been carved out for me since I was young. Narrowed down to a single path. Congress.
Take up the DuPont mantle.
I was meant to inherit a political future—one I fully intended to control.
Instead, I step straight into Echelon Vanguard, a society built on the backs of the rich and powerful. Businessmen. Politicians. Former organized-crime figures. All bound by secrecy and leverage.
My grandfather’s voice replaces my own, until I barely remember I ever had one.
Until her.
Thea Harmon disrupts every calculated move I’ve made to undermine him. My discipline turns into obsession, and when EV tightens its grip, loyalty becomes suffocation.
She’s been sold into a world designed to break her. All I want is to save her.

Wow, what a story! Where do I even begin? First and foremost, please keep in mind that this one is not going to be for everyone. While it IS closed-door/fade to black, it deals with some darker themes and topics like human trafficking and secret societies. These topics are handled well, and it doesn't glorify the darkness, but it doesn't shy away from those realities either. As such, I definitely recommend reading the author's note to decide if this one is for you. It's gritty, it's dark, it's messy, and yes, at times it was a little hard to read due to the subject matter... but my goodness, I absolutely loved this story just the same. I'm a sucker for a protective MMC, and the way that Slade is drawn to protect Thea? Call it obsession, maybe, but I was here for it. These characters are both so complex, and I think this was especially true for Slade. As someone who actually has a selective/situational mutism diagnosis, I was excited to see how that aspect of Slade's character would play out. While his might look different than my own (which IS mentioned in the author's note), I still really loved that this was part of his story and thought it added such a unique dynamic. Truly, there was just so much to love about this one. Yes, their story has a lot of darkness and heartbreak, but it doesn't let you stay fully in the darkness. Despite it all, there is still that sense of goodness and hope... I won't give anything way, but I'm most certainly looking forward to what will happen next in this series. I've enjoyed every book that I've read from K.P. Haven, but this one might just be a new favorite.
Save Me is a fade to black romance with innuendo and some language (mild/moderate) throughout. While nothing explicit happens on the pages, it may be a bit steamier and does deal with some themes that some closed-door readers will not be comfortable with.
