The Book

Firefighters are supposed to be the ones putting out fires, not causing sparks.

I thought I stifled everything I felt for Connor Porter over a decade ago. But now he’s back home, and I’m hit with those old feelings again, stronger than a firehose to the face.

Feelings I most certainly should not be having for my best friend’s older brother.

I’m trying to push all thoughts of Connor aside and focus on opening a flower truck when his sister persuades him to help me get my business off the ground.

Now, I’m spending more time with my childhood crush than can be considered healthy. And it’s difficult to get him out of my mind when I’m constantly being distracted by his muscular arms and thinking about how they feel when they’re wrapped around me.

My attraction to him grows into a roaring inferno, but I don’t think Connor’s ever seen me as anything other than his little sister’s friend. I need to extinguish these feelings before I’m in too deep.

Book Review

Oh my goodness, talk about swoon worthy... Connor and Shayna were the absolute sweetest. Connor comes across as a bit of a grump, but really, he's just a major introvert, which made him very relatable to me. Shayna is the perfect balance for him. I loved how she saw beyond that initial impression that others saw, but also how he was able to be comfortable with her, even before any romantic feelings were involved. Best friend's brother is always a favorite of mine, and it is stories like this one that make it so... the history between them, the pining, the slow burn... honestly, I just couldn't get enough of these two and found myself unable to stop smiling from start to finish. And that first kiss? My goodness, so good. Each book in this series is just as good as the last, and I love them all. I cannot wait to see what's going to happen next! 

I'm Only Me When I'm With Him is a closed-door romance with kisses only and no language. It is the third book in the Sweeter Than Fiction. While you may have a better understanding of the friendship dynamics when read in order, I do think this could be enjoyed as a standalone as well.
