The Book

Crazy Rich Asians meets Four Christmases when a couple ends up in Tunica to escape falling prey to their meddling family’s elaborate wedding plans.

After directing more sappy holiday romances than I can count, I finally get to star in my own love story. Unfortunately, everyone in this small town thinks they’re the director.

Between endless Southern celebrations, surprise “pre-pre-wedding” parties, and two extremely enthusiastic mothers, all I want is to marry my sweet boyfriend in peace. Is that really too much to ask?

Apparently so.

Little did I know that filming a documentary at a casino in Mississippi would spark the idea of eloping. Earl Ed’s cousin tied the knot there, and so did another couple from his hometown, so how hard could it be… right?

Wrong.

It’s not so easy when you decide to elope on Christmas Eve. Add in our meddling family and a whole county wanting nothing more than to see us exchange vows, and suddenly it’s like Apple Cart County has come to town.

I’ve seen a lot working in the entertainment industry. And even more since moving to Alabama. But none of that could’ve prepared me for…

Kaci Lane is an Alabama girl whose mission in life is to write stories that relate to real-life issues with a bit of comic relief. While unsuccessfully trying to learn Spanish for a decade, she has become fluent in Sarcasm, Southern Belle and movie quotes. She is married to a true Southern gentleman and has two young children, all of which help keep her humility in check.

With a background and degree in journalism, Kaci has written almost everything about anything. Well, except for topics that would make any good Southern Baptist’s face turn the color of a Crimson Tide football jersey.

Book Review

Kaci Lane never fails to create fun stories with eclectic characters that will keep me smiling from start to finish... and this one was no exception. Christmas in Apple Cart County is always full of holiday shenanigans, meddling townsfolk and laughs... and when there's a wedding to be planned? Well, you can imagine the chaos to come! And I loved every single moment. If you think YOU have a crazy family (and even crazier holidays), this is definitely one you'll want to read. You'll realize that perhaps your family is not as crazy as they could be... or you'll feel less alone if they are (because while these characters might seem a little over the top at times... there's also something super relatable about them too, at least for this country-raised girl)! Either way, you'll get lots of smalltown Southern charm mixed with some Vegas-type vibes with a sweet romance for Earl Ed and Mackenzie along the way. If you're looking to add some humor to your holiday TBR, this one is sure to do just that. 

What Happens in Tunica is a closed-door romance with kisses only and no language. It is book four in the Apple Cart County Christmas series but could probably be enjoyed just fine as a standalone as well.
