The Christmas Couple by Sydney Muse: Book Review

**ARC received for consideration. All opinions are my own.

The Book

This was not a love match. My best friend only married me so I could have health insurance until I find a new job; Carl is just that kind of guy. But it doesn’t take long for our marriage of convenience to turn complicated.

Our courthouse wedding is barely official when my parents show up to surprise me—after refusing to visit for years. And suddenly, medical stability isn’t the only thing I need from my best friend.

I need him to pretend our relationship is real. I need us to become the perfect Christmas couple.

Lying to my parents isn’t easy, especially when the entire town of Ponderosa Falls gets in on the act. Though as they band together to help us pull off the ultimate holiday hoax, my “perfect marriage” starts to feel a little too real.

Which definitely wasn’t part of our plan.

The Author

Sydney Muse writes sweet stories full of lovable characters and swoon-worthy kisses. She grew up in a big city surrounded by the ocean, but now she lives in a small town surrounded by mountains. When she's not writing, you can find her (accidentally) killing plants in her garden, wrangling her kids, watching cooking shows with her husband, and trying to entertain two rambunctious cats.

Book Review

If meddling family/neighbors is your thing... this book absolutely has you covered. From that very first introduction, Carl and Jenna drew me in. These two are best friends, but when she loses her job and much needed health insurance, he does what any great friend would to... he marries her. Unlike your typical marriage of convenience, I loved that their reason for marrying really wasn't much of a secret, except to her parents. And when a whole smalltown gets in on the charade? Well, let's just say it certainly keeps things entertaining! I'm always a big fan of both meddling and smalltown shenanigans and this story was packed full of both! I couldn't help but find myself smiling from start to finish. The story might have been a shorter read, but the holidays in Ponderosa Falls were certainly not short on laughs or holiday cheer and I enjoyed every moment!

The Christmas Couple is a closed-door romance with kisses only and no language. It is connected to the Ponderosa Falls series but could be enjoyed just fine as a standalone as well.
