Identity: Seeing Yourself Through God's Eyes {Book Review} #IdentityBook #InChrist #ChristianBooks #GraceNotPerformance #NewCreationInChrist

**Book received for consideration. All opinions are my own.

Who are you?

That sounds like an easy enough question to answer, and yet it's one that can come with a surprising struggle to answer. Oftentimes we answer that question with the positions we hold- our accomplishments, our career, our children's parent, etc. But when circumstances change, it can leave us a little confused. We may also see ourselves by who we perceive others expect us to be.

But what if we looked at who the Bible says we are? Today, I'm sharing a book that can help us to do just that: Identity by Conrad Hilario. Take a look:

Our culture constantly tells us who we should be. But what if our true worth was never meant to be defined by appearance, success, or other people's approval?

In Identity: Seeing Yourself Through God's Eyes, Conrad Hilario explores how understanding your God-given identity can transform your relationships, your confidence, and your purpose. Through relatable stories and biblical insight, this book will help you:

  • See yourself through God's eyes
  • Break free from comparison and insecurity
  • Live with purpose rooted in grace and truth
Author: Conrad Hilario is a Senior Pastor at Dwell Community Church in Columbus, Ohio where he oversees a dynamic College Ministry. He has a bachelor’s in history from the Ohio State University and also a master’s from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. He and his wife, Hilary, have two children.

This book is written in thirty short chapters, each taking a look at the different parts of our new identities in Christ. These are perfect for reading one chapter a day for a month long look at who we are in Him. It is perfect to read through on your own or with a group.

I was recently given a copy to check out for myself. At the time of this posting, I have not yet finished reading through in its entirety, but I have to say I am really enjoying what I have seen so far. These devotions are packed full of scripture, which is also mixed with personal and real-world examples. They dive deep into transforming the way that we see ourselves away from the worldly ideas we have and towards how God sees us instead. Now, as a longtime Christian, many of these sentiments are familiar to me, and likely to many of you as well. We absolutely know that our identity should come from Christ, but perhaps we struggle to truly apply that... or, if you're like me, just need those frequent reminders. This book can provide both of these things for believers, new and old alike. I found it very easy to follow, and again just really appreciated how rooted in scripture each of these devotions were.
