This beautiful, 2D-animated story of Jesus is told through the eyes of his young friend, the Apostle John. From the beginning of Jesus’ ministry through his crucifixion and resurrection, LIGHT OF THE WORLD powerfully illustrates how Jesus of Nazareth changed the world forever and still changes lives today!
I was given the opportunity to check out the movie before it's theatrical release... and what a beautiful movie it was! I'll be honest, my daughter and I both can be a little picky about animation styles. We tend to prefer that 1990s style of hand-drawn animation that you don't see as much anymore. So, when we saw the initial previews for this one, we were excited to see it! Fun fact: Director Tom Bancroft was a long-time animator with Disney who worked on The Lion King, Mulan, and Beauty and the Beast. No wonder we loved it so much!
Beyond the style though, the story itself was told really well... sharing those stories we all recognize so well in the Bible in a way that is both accurate, entertaining AND that makes sense to kids. The Bible can be difficult for even adults to understand at times, so I loved that there were several moments where I found myself thinking they did a great job of making these ideas understandable to kids of all ages.
This is the first movie from Salvation Poem Project, a ministry committed to sharing Jesus with the world... and I think this movie is going to be a great tool to do just that!
