Internet sleuth (or "webtective") Dot Conner receives a cryptic phone call from her father on the eve of her first day of high school, plunging her into an adventure she never expected to face. As Dot navigates the rocky start of her high school life, she uncovers the first of many clues her father has left behind, setting her on an urban treasure hunt with friends Makayla and Alex. Their quest leads them through the city, crossing paths with dangerous Russian thugs as they go. What begins as a search for her father quickly unravels into a much larger mystery, revealing his deep involvement in the world of espionage. Amid the chaos, Dot discovers the truth of Philippians 4:13, proving that even in the darkest times, faith can light the way.
I was given the chance to check out an advanced screener before the theatrical release... and what a cute movie this was! It reminded me in many ways of the types of movies I enjoyed often as a kid--- kid detectives or spies... solving the crime and saving the day. The villains were over-the-top (in the best way possible) and well, not the brightest making it just a really fun adventure! There were so many moments that had me laughing out loud, and the action was perfect for kids- with stakes just high enough to keep it exciting! But on top of all that, you also have some really great faith messages/lessons as well. If you have a kid/tween who loves spy or detective stories, this is certainly one worth checking out.
