Restoring the Trauma Surgeon by Daphne Dyer: Book Review

**ARC received for consideration. All opinions are my own.

The Book

She’s running from a life she never wanted. He’s stuck in a life that’s not his own. Neither of them is looking for love—but love might be looking for them.

Trauma surgeon Fallon Harbor didn’t plan to get her car stuck on a Texas beach or have her smart mouth earn her a job at the local garage. But desperate times… with a new name and a very real need to stay off the grid, her only goal is hiding from her manipulative should-be-ex-husband. The infuriatingly attractive mechanic who’s way too invested in her bald tires and personal safety?

Not part of the plan.

Harry Buchanan has one rule: no damsels in distress. Between a toxic father, family debts, and a garage barely staying afloat, he doesn’t have time for the enigmatic woman with a knack for engines and enough sass to rival his own. Fallon doesn't just crash into his world, she challenges him. She sees him. And for once, he wants more than just to survive—he wants to live.

When Harry suggests they take on restoration work at the shop, it feels like a turning point—like maybe she’s ready to stay. But when a stranger shows up claiming to be Fallon’s husband, Harry realizes nothing about her is what it seemed. She never even told him her real name. And now, the woman he was falling for is at the center of a lie he never saw coming.

With trust broken and emotions raw, Fallon and Harry have to decide if what they’ve built—between oil changes, shared silences, and unexpected laughter—is strong enough to survive the truth.

A grumpy mechanic. A runaway doctor. One tiny town full of nosy charm and second chances. Perfect for fans of slow-burn chemistry, found family, emotional healing, and falling in love where you least expect it.

If you love Nicholas Sparks level angst and Sarah Adams level humor, Harry and Fallon's happily ever after will keep you up past your bedtime.

The Author

Daphne is a wife and mom who spent too much time with the imaginary people in her head, so she decided to put fingers to keyboard and tell their stories. Book Review

This story was absolutely unexpected--- in the very best ways possible! From the moment we met Fallon, running away from her husband and faking her own death, I was absolutely hooked... I mean, how could you not be? And then we meet Harry and his dysfunctional family, and it only added to my intrigue! These two had such a unique dynamic between them: not quite enemies, but not really friends either... but my goodness the chemistry! These two both had difficult pasts that they have to grow from, and while they most certainly make some bad decisions along the way, I love seeing that growth... and seeing them get their happily ever afters with each other. I found their story to be the perfect blend of drama, romance, found family and healing... and I found myself enjoying every moment.

Restoring the Trauma Surgeon is a closed-door romance, with kisses only. It does have some innuendo and minor language as well. It is the sixth book in the Third Coast Medical Romance series, but could absolutely be enjoyed as a standalone as well.
