Looking for a new show to enjoy with your family? Check out the musical series A Week Away on Angel!

About the Series:
THIS MUSICAL SERIES follows a group of teens as they embark on a summer at Camp Aweegawa — a Christian camp filled with adventure, friendships, and unexpected self-discovery. It’s an expressive and resonant story about identity, trust, and the courage to face what’s within.
A Week Away: The Series offers a tender space for those burdened by doubt and pain to explore the possibility of hope and the power of a found family. The story follows a defiant foster teen who is dragged to church camp, determined to resist what he sees as the hollow promises of faith. But rejection gives way to introspection, and the walls he’s built begin to crack. As he discovers he’s not alone in the struggle against grief, anger, and the ache of belonging, he learns that healing can’t be forced— it must be chosen.
A Week Away: The Series is fun and engaging, safe for family viewing, and honors faith-based principles without being a ‘lesson in Christianity.
To be honest, I don't really watch TV often... if at all... anymore. There are several reasons, but honestly, that's in part just that I haven't found any shows that really capture my attention enough to actually make me want to truly sit down and watch them. When I was given the opportunity to check out the new series, A Week Away, I kind of assumed it would be the same... that I would likely enjoy it (I enjoyed the movie previously) but would probably just watch a few episodes to get a feel for it and then move on.
Boy, was I wrong!
One episode in and I was absolutely hooked! First of all, the church camp I attended as a teenager was always one of my highlights of not just the summer, but of the entire year. It is really where I think my faith grew and became my own, so naturally I think that camp aspect really resonated with me... and certainly added a sense of nostalgia as well. But beyond that, the story was just REALLY good!
The target audience may be teens/young adults, but as a 30-something mom, I loved it and could see it being something I could watch with my preteen/teen as well. That said, these characters deal with some difficult realities, which are hinted at briefly, so you might want to give it a watch before watching with younger kids. I think though that's the thing that I really enjoyed about it so much--- it doesn't shy away from the struggles that teens (and even adults) face or the doubts and questions they may have, but it's blended with humor so perfectly too. And then, there's the music of course! I absolutely LOVED the music throughout the show--- it's infectious and fun, but also some really heartfelt and serious moments mixed in there as well. Some of the songs were original to the series, but there were a few familiar ones in there too, which was really fun. Their version of Jesus Freak!? Oh my goodness, I loved it so much! I would 100% listen to this entire soundtrack on repeat!
This show made me laugh. It made me cry. It made me sing along. And it made me binge watch all 7 episodes and still left me wishing there was more!
