The Message of the Bible by Women, for Women: Check Out The Message Women's Devotional Bible #theMessageBible

**Complimentary copy received for consideration. All opinions are my own.

Do you have a favorite Bible translation?

There are many great ones out there, and I personally alternate between a few different ones. Perhaps one of the most unique translations I enjoy is The Message.

For those unfamiliar, here is a little more about this translation:

The Message is a reading Bible translated from the original Greek and Hebrew Scriptures by scholar, pastor, author, and poet Eugene Peterson. Thoroughly reviewed and approved by 20 biblical scholars, The Message combines the authority of God’s Word with the cadence and energy of conversational English.

Simply put, this translation keeps the meaning, but puts the phrasing in a way that makes sense to modern readers. I first discovered it back in high school, and while it's not one that I typically use for my regular reading, it is one that I like to turn to on those particularly difficult to understand passages.

While I still had that old Bible from back in high school, I was pretty excited to learn about The Message Women's Devotional Bible. As I said, I personally find that this translation in general has a way of making the Bible make sense in a way that many translations do not. But this devotional takes it even further with features like:

  • 320 topical devotions,
  • Contributions written by women of diverse ethnicities, backgrounds, and vocations,
  • Special Biblical section introductions highlighting the needs and interests of women,
  • 52 profiles on important figures in the Bible,
  • Space and sensitivity for women to engage difficult Bible passages,
  • Fresh and candid insights into often-neglected Biblical passages and personalities.

The devotions found throughout the Bible were written by women, for women... further helping readers to understand what they are reading and how it applies to their own lives. That is certainly apparent throughout. It acknowledges the more difficult topics discussed in the Bible (of which there are many) with a great sensitivity as well. I also really appreciated the highlights of women throughout... some of whom are often easily overlooked... but who play an important role just the same.

Truly, this is a beautiful Bible inside and out... and one that has me even more excited to dig deeper into this particular translation than I have in the past!
