Shot on Goal at a Second Chance by Dineen Miller: Book Review

**ARC received for consideration. All opinions are my own.

The Book

Turns out buying a hockey team comes with a roster full of surprises—including my ex.

Hockey has always been part of my life. How could it not when my father was one of the most renowned players in the game? I even fell for a hockey player once. Needless to say, I won’t make that mistake again.

Except he’s suddenly back in my life. I just purchased a team, and guess who covers them for the network?

Would it have been a dealbreaker if I’d known I’d have to see him on the regular? Probably not. I didn’t sacrifice my dream for him years ago, and I won’t now either.

But my heart is falling faster this time around and somehow, being a one-woman-show isn’t as much fun as it used to be.

Should I give this thing between us a second chance? Or let our attempted shot on goal remain a thing of the past?

Shot on Goal at a Second Chance is a closed door romantic comedy brimming with undeniable chemistry and the promise of a happy ending. If you enjoy charming silver foxes, sophisticated women, and playful dialogue, you’re sure to fall in love with this enchanting novella.

The Author

Dineen Miller is an award-winning and Amazon bestselling author who writes closed-door romantic comedies filled with swoony moments, snappy banter, and just enough awkward flirting to feel real. When she’s not writing happily ever afters, she’s hoarding yarn like a dragon, crocheting her way through a Netflix binge, or laughing at her husband’s punniest jokes (even when she pretends to roll her eyes). Life at home includes two quirky dogs, a yarn collection with its own zip code, and a husband who thinks he's hilarious (and he kind of is).

Book Review

Shot on Goal at a Second Chance is part of the Midlife Meet Cute series. This is a multi-author series of novellas featuring romances between characters age 40+. They can all be read as standalones or in any order.

This was another fun addition to this series... and another great second chance romance. Second chance always works really well for shorter reads like this one, because we already have the established history between these two. Zach and Rebecca first met 23-years earlier while he was a hockey player and she was his coach's off-limits daughter. Now, they meet once again as she has become owner of a hockey team in need of a revamp and he's working as a sports reporter. I thought this was a really unique take on a hockey romance, giving us a more behind the scenes looks at the business aspects of professional sports which I found I really enjoyed. I loved how these two supported each other, and how those old feelings quickly made their way back to the surface. They were so sweet together and I couldn't help but root for them to get their chance at a happily ever after... finally!

Shot on Goal at a Second Chance is a closed-door romance with kisses only and no language.
