The idea for Kissing the Texas Ranger came about when I was writing A Proposal for Her Cowboy, which is Book 7 in my Three Springs, Texas series. Sheriff Wells Hopson was introduced in A Proposal for Her Cowboy, and I originally intended for the long-time Sheriff of Three Springs to be simply a secondary character. Sheriff Hopson was supposed to be a part of the local community and feature in the supporting cast – and that was as they say the end of the story.
However, as soon as Wells stepped onto the page for his first scene, I was hooked and very interested in him. And as it happened, each time Wells was in a new scene, I found myself making sidenotes on a piece of paper about his personal backstory and his life. By the end of A Proposal for her Cowboy, I knew as much about Sheriff Wells Hopson as I did my main heroines and heroes. Given the way the Sheriff stuck with me, I knew I was not ready to leave Three Springs quite yet. I contacted my editor and fortunately she gave me the green light for five more books set in Three Springs. And now I get to discover if Sheriff Hopson reconciles with his three grown children and finally gets his own happily-ever-after with Lilian Sloan. I know I’m already cheering him on.
Kissing the Texas Ranger features Bodie Hopson who just happens to be the oldest son of Sheriff Wells Hopson. Bodie is a work-first, serious minded ranger intent on closing his undercover case in Three Springs quickly and hightailing it out of town just as swiftly. Yet when Bodie meets local farmer, Sarah Rickelle, the reasons to stay start outnumbering the ones to leave. And as Bodie and his father start to repair their relationship, they begin to discover the true strength of family.
